Win 1 of 30 Preview Double Passes to ‘The Grandmaster’ on August 28, courtesy of Cinema Nova (Melbourne only)

Score tickets to see Wong Kar-wai’s long-awaited martial arts epic before it officially hits cinemas.

Hong Kong auteur Wong Kar-wai’s acclaimed drama based on Bruce Lee’s famous trainer, Ip (Tony Leung), explores the life of an elegant intellectual caught up in the treacherous and competitive world of the ‘jianghu’ martial artists. Moving freely through episodes from Ip’s life and contrasting him with contemporaries, Ip is a figure who embodies the Taoist ideal: not bothered by foes or fame.

Following the stylised, moody and melancholic Ashes of Time and In the Mood for Love, Wong transcends familiar themes of unrequited love and integrates political and cultural issues with metaphors, resulting in a film that is at once philosophical and deeply romantic.

For your chance to win a double pass to this preview screening, simply let us know your favourite martial arts film, and why it tops the list. Email filmink@filmink.com.au with your answer.

This preview screening will take place on the evening of August 28 at Cinema Nova, before it’s released on September 4.
