Pioneers discovered the Overlander’s Way while herding cattle to the coast more than 100 years ago. Today, travellers can follow in their footsteps on a driving adventure linking the wonders of the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef to the rugged outback. The Overlander’s Way includes the Dinosaur Trail, where travellers can journey back 100 million years and discover Australia’s largest, most unusual prehistoric locals and world class fossils.
The Road Ahead and Tropical Tourism North Queensland are giving one lucky reader the chance to experience this drive adventure and enjoy the genuine outback hospitality and unforgettable scenery. The prize includes a six-day drive itinerary of the Overlander’s Way, including 4WD car hire and return flights for two from Brisbane. Travelling along the Dinosaur Trail, the winners will discover the outback towns of Cloncurry, Julia Creek, Richmond, Winton, Hughenden and Charters Towers. They will also enjoy a wide range of tours and attractions along the way and a scenic helicopter flight out of Townsville, taking in islands and the Reef. Total prize value is $4000.
