Every now and again, a true Good Samaritan comes along. A truly charitable person is one that gives and expects
nothing in return. Not even the acknowledgement of the charitable deed. Earlier this year, Sydney Powerboat Centre
met such a person…
A man and his wife went into the dealership at d’Albora Marina, to purchase a boat for their family. The normal sales
process ensued and the customers advised they would think about it and come back in the morning.
They returned the next day, keen to proceed with the sale, and began to negotiate the price. Mid-negotiations, the
gentleman announced to his very stunned wife that he would indeed like to buy the boat, but donate it to charity
instead!
Whilst thinking about his decision the previous night, the gentleman had seen an advertisement for The Smith Family
and how they help young Australians in need to create better futures for themselves through education. This really
struck a chord in the gentleman’s heart, so much so that he bought the boat and requested it be raffled off, with all
proceeds going to The Smith Family. Once she got over the initial shock, his wife was very supportive of this decision!
Sydney Powerboat Centre agreed on a discounted price as their charitable contribution, and is now coordinating the
raffle, the boat is on display at d’Albora Marina. The donor has asked to remain 100% anonymous.
Tickets are $100. The value of the boat is $45,000. Only selling 1,000 tickets!
