Official Arctic Photographer Competition - Terms and Conditions

THE COMPETITION

1. “Official Arctic Photographer” is a photography competition.

2. Information on how to enter the photography competition and the prize form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

3. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.

THE PROMOTER

4. The Promoter is Aurora Travel Pty Limited trading as Aurora Expeditions. Level 2, Suite 12, 35 Buckingham St, Surry Hills, NSW 2010 AUSTRALIA. ABN 139 766 911.

5. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel the competition or change the terms and conditions at any time, at their discretion.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

6. Entries are open from Monday 19 January 2015 until Sunday 15 March 2015.

7. The competition is open to any professional or amateur photographer.

8. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.

9. Only photographs that match a category of “people, nature, landscapes or wildlife” will be accepted into the competition. Entries require 20 or more votes to qualify for the final judging stage.

10. Entrants are obliged to provide further examples of work if requested by the promoter for the final judging stage.

11. Entries can only be submitted online at http://www.facebook.com/auroraex using the specific entry form. Only one entry per Facebook user is permitted.

12. Photographs entered into past competitions run by the promoter are not allowed.

13. Entrants must provide the following personal details: full name, email address and a day time contact number or mobile phone number. The Promoter reserves the right to use these details for their own marketing and promotional uses.

14. Entrants are obliged to provide higher resolution images if requested by the Promoter.

15. The Promotor reserves the right to use entrant’s photos for marketing and promotional purposes.

16. Photographs must be accompanied with a statement of 50 words or less answering the following: ‘In 50 words or less tell us why you should be Aurora Expeditions’ Official Arctic Photographer?’. This answer forms part of the entry for judging purposes. Entries without a statement are ineligible.

17. Entrants retain the copyright to their photograph and agree to grant the Promoter exclusive rights (for commercial purposes) to use the photograph for marketing and promotional purposes.

18. By submitting an entry to the competition, an entrant warrants that he/she was the sole photographer responsible for taking or otherwise creating each photograph and that he/she is the sole owner of the copyright to such photograph. By entering the competition, the entrant confirms that all persons appearing in the photograph have consented to the entrant submitting the photo as part of this competition.

19. By submitting an entry, all entrants are deemed to have agreed to and shall be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

20. Entrants understand that by entering this competition they are applying to become Aurora Expeditions’ ‘Official Arctic Photographer’ which will entail specific responsibilities during the expedition including, but not limited to:

a. Photograph different aspects of the expedition including, but not limited to, scenery, wildlife, passengers, staff, ship and other aspects as briefed by Aurora Expeditions, for exclusive and copyright-free usage by Aurora Expeditions.

b. Create a written and photographic blog series about the expedition.

21. The winner agrees to sign a contract prior to travelling to agree to an acceptable standard of behaviour (as outlined in the Aurora Expeditions staff manual) during the expedition and within the position as ‘Official Arctic Photographer’.

NON-ELIGIBILITY

22. Employees of Aurora Expeditions or their family members or anyone else connected in any way with the competition or helping to set up the competition shall not be permitted to enter the competition.

23. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

24. Incomplete and indecipherable entries and any entry which has incorrectly entered personal information or contact details shall be deemed an invalid entry.

25. Images that are considered unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, unduly sexually oriented, racially offensive, or that promote a commercial product or service, contain objectionable content or are otherwise considered inappropriate will be deemed invalid and rejected in the absolute discretion of the Promoter. We will not allow entries that portray activities which are contrary to the conservation values of our organisation, especially those relating to animals, local or tribal people or environmental protection.

WINNER

26. Entries will be judged by a judging panel within twelve (12) days after the end date of the Competition (15 March 2015). All photographs with 20 or more votes will be eligible for judging.

27. The Prize (as defined below) will be awarded to the top entrant as decided by the judging panel.

28. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners. The Promoter may select additional reserve entries in the case an invalid entry or ineligible entrant is selected as a winner.

29. The decision of the voting and Promoter is final and no correspondence will be entered into between the Promoter and the entrants in this respect.

30. The winner will be contacted by the Promoter within twelve (12) business days after the end date of the Competition.

31. The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material.

32. The winner will be announced on the website uwww.auroraexpeditions.com.au and Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/auroraex within twelve (12) days after the end date of the Competition. The winner will also be contacted directly.

PRIZE

33. The prize shall be: one berth in a twin share cabin with shared facilities on Aurora Expeditions ‘Across the Arctic Circle’ expedition departing 30 June 2015; return economy class airfares from the entrants nearest capital city to and from the expedition starting and ending points; one night accommodation before and after the expedition, if required due to flight schedule; and an official Aurora Expeditions polar jacket.

34. Prize does not include: travel insurance, camera equipment, expedition clothing, passports, visas, vaccinations, meals not included in the expedition itinerary, optional activities, spending money, gratuities and all items of a personal nature including but not limited to: alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, laundry services, personal clothing, medical expenses, and email or phone charges.

35. The Promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.

36. Prizes are non-transferable and non-redeemable for cash.

37. The prize must be booked and confirmed by 30 April 2015.
