Trees make our city more beautiful as well as improving our air quality and providing habitat for birds and animals.
The City of Sydney has planted 10,250 trees since 2005 – we already have around 42,000 trees on our streets and in our parks across the City – and we're planning for many more.
Our free tree giveaway encourages residents to help us reach our target to increase the City's tree canopy up to 50% by 2030.
The 2015 free tree giveaway takes place on 21 March in the car park on Sydney Park Road at Sydney Park. Staff will be there from 10am until all the trees are given away. Enjoy a sausage sizzle and chat to our staff for tips and advice on how to plant your trees and general tree maintenance.You can review the image gallery below to help you choose the right tree for your property.

You must have a copy of your rate notice or driver’s licence to pick up the tree(s); and residents must obtain the necessary approvals for selecting the trees and the planting locations within the property boundary.The City made its best endeavours to provide a healthy plant with average growth height information but we make no warranties concerning the tree. We suggest you investigate where best to plant the tree to minimise any risks to property or people.
