Name the Crane

The Bright Alliance, the Prince of Wales Hospital and the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District have announced a new “Name the Crane” competition for primary school aged children who live or attend school in the Prince of Wales Hospital catchment area.  The following are the official terms and conditions of this competition.  These terms and conditions are also downloadable in this document.  A copy of the official entry form is downloadable here.

Terms and Conditions:  Name the Crane Competition, Prince of Wales Hospital

Information on how to enter the competition forms part of these terms and conditions of entry. Participation in this competition constitutes acceptance of these conditions of entry.

The purpose of the competition is to name the crane located on the corner of High and Avoca Streets, Randwick. The crane will be in place in the first half of 2015 to build a new building known as The Bright Alliance.  The Bright Alliance with house the Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre for Prince of Wales Hospital, a clinical research facility for UNSW called Scientia Clinical Research and a range of other associated health facilities.
Entries are open to primary school aged children attending school in the Prince of Wales catchment area.
The competition will commence in March 2015 and close on 30th April 2015.
To enter the competition, entrants must colour-in the crane and give the crane a name (referred to in these terms and condition of entry as ‘the Work’). Entrants must also complete their details including name, address, age, parental permission, and parent or guardian contact phone number and email address (this information, together with the completed Work are referred to in these terms and condition of entry as ‘the Entry’).
Hard copies of entry forms will be available during the competition period at the Prince of Wales Hospital Cancer Services reception desk to inpatient and outpatient children, their siblings and hospital visitors. Entry forms can be left at the Cancer Services Reception Desk at Prince of Wales Hospital.
All other entrants must print out the entry form from their school or they can contact:

Name the Crane Competition – C/ Prince of Wales Clinical School, Prince of Wales Hospital, Level 1, South Wing, Edmund Blacket Building, High Street, Randwick NSW 2031 or via email to: thebrightalliance@unsw.edu.au

Each child may only enter the competition once. The prize is the opportunity to name the tower crane on the Prince of Wales Hospital NCCC & SCR construction site and receive an iPad. Second and Third prize winners will each receive an iPad mini. To be eligible to win, entrants must obtain permission from their parent or legal guardian on the competition form. By providing parental consent on the competition entry form, the entrant’s parent or legal guardian consents to be bound by these terms and conditions of entry in their own right and on behalf of the entrant and warrants that:

      a) the entrant, so far as possible, understands the statements and obligations in these terms and conditions; and
      b) the Work is the entrant’s own original work and has not been copied from any other work.

Judging will be completed by Prince of Wales Hospital and UNSW staff and A W Edwards Pty Limited.
Entries will be judged on artistic merit given the child’s age and the creativity of the proposed crane name. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Entries which are incomplete, incorrect, offensive, non-serious or incomprehensible are not eligible to win.
Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
Collection of the prize will be from Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick. Any transport costs or ancillary costs to attend the prize winning ceremony are the winner’s responsibility.
Each entry is the property of Prince of Wales Hospital and it has no obligation to return any Entry to an entrant.
The entrant grants Prince of Wales Hospital a royalty-free, exclusive, irrevocable and perpetual licence to exercise all copyright and other intellectual property rights subsisting in the Work for any purpose and in any manner, including but not limited to reproduction, communication, adaptation and publication of the Work. This licence includes the right to sublicense the Work without notice to the entrant (including any winner), their parent or their legal guardian.
The entrant consents to all relevant acts or omissions in relation to any moral rights that the winner has in the Entry which might otherwise infringe those moral rights and, to the extent permitted by law, waives all moral rights in the Entry.
By accepting the prize, the winner agrees to be contacted by the Prince of Wales Hospital and UNSW project team and A W Edwards Pty Limited to participate in publicity activities as reasonably requested, including being interviewed and photographed for use in marketing and promotional materials without payment or other compensation.
