The Brisbane Pride Choir invites composers to submit an expression of interest for the creation of a new piece for our choir and for use by other LGBTI choruses.
The winner of this competition will be awarded a commission, valued at $2,000.
The song is about ‘looking forward’ and ‘what’s next’ for the LGBTI community. It is likely to be the sort of song that a choir like ours might perform at a Pride Fair Day or community festivals. The finished composition should be optimistic in tone and could draw on a range of contemporary styles. Brisbane Pride Choir is a non-auditioned SATB choir, so applicants need to consider the level of difficulty of the proposed composition.
Please submit an application before the closing date of 31 August 2015, including:
An abstract of your proposed composition (this should be in the form of a sample musical score – around 16 bars in length, including voice parts (SATB), text and piano accompaniment)
A short biography (no more than one page)
Examples of your compositions (these can be provided in hard copy or electronic format).
For full terms and conditions and how to submit, please review the below file.
