Lizard Island is remote, secluded and beautiful, with 24 sandy beaches, a lagoon and the peak Captain James Cook once climbed to plot the passage of The Endeavour through the outer reef.

The one-hour flight from Cairns provides unforgettable views of the Great Barrier Reef. There are only two small human habitations – the Lizard Island Resort and the Australian Museum’s Research Station. The Resort is idyllic for exploring local marine life, with resident naturalist-guides and coral reefs close to the beaches. There are also lots of choices to relax and be pampered.

The Resort has once again generously agreed to support our LIRRF fundraising by donating a wonderful prize: a 3-night stay for 2 people. The prize includes accommodation in a Garden Room; gourmet meals; unlimited non-alcoholic beverages and selected fine Australian and New Zealand wine, beer and spirits; picnic hampers; use of non-motorised water sports and motorised dinghies; return scheduled East Air flights between Cairns and Lizard Island and a tour of the Research Station where you will see first hand why LIRRF’s scientific research is so important.
There are two ways to be included in the draw:
Subscribe to receive free email notifications on Lizard Island research; and/or
DONATE $20 or more to LIRRF.
Do both ( i.e. Subscribe and Donate ) to double your chances. If your partner does the same, as a couple you will have 4 chances to win. Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible in Australia.
Terms and Conditions
The winner will be determined by a lottery draw conducted at the Australian Museum on 15 July 2016.
The draw will be comprised of (a) all Subscriber email addresses in the lirrf.org database that are active as at 30 June 2016 and (b) all donors who have made a donation of $20 or more to LIRRF between 1 July 2015 and 30 June 2016. A person who is both a subscriber and a donor will have two chances in the draw.
The prize is valid for redemption prior to 31 July 2017. If not redeemed by this date it will be forfeited. It is not transferable, available for sale or redeemable for cash.
Resort bookings are subject to availability and black-out dates may apply. The Resort’s standard Amendment and Cancellation fees will apply once a booking has been made.
The prize will include the amenities outlined above. Any additional items will be charged and will need to be settled prior to departure.
A special 20% discount for LIRRF Members
The Resort is supporting our fund-raising with another generous offer. If you are a LIRRF Member (i.e if you have made a donation of $1,000 or more in the last 12 months), you will qualify for a 20% discount on any stay of 3 or more nights (except in the last week of October and in the Christmas-New Year period) . Your donation to LIRRF will be tax deductible in Australia. If you do the math you will see this is a really worthwhile option. Here are the steps –
