Don’t expect Hawaiian shirts, a soundtrack filled with The Cardigans or flashy gold pistols because Justin Kurzel’s adapation of a Shakespearean classic is set in 11th Century Scotland and it is so dark it makes Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet look like a John Hughes movie. Macbeth stars Michael Fassbender as the bat-shit-crazy Macbeth and Marion Cotillard as his equally bananas wife. Between their peformances and the impressive support cast, the acting more than bridges any gaps left by your shoddy attention span in year ten english – in fact the less you know the better, so you can have your mind blown by the storyline without the pavlovian need to for look metaphors. The slow motion battles scenes will have you scraping your jaw off the floor and each shot of the Scottish Highlands acts as a reminder that the Loch Ness monster is only the second most awesome thing about the country.

For your chance to win 1 of 20 double passes for you and a friend to see Macbeth, simply tell us in 25 words or less: “What were you doing at school when you should have been learning Shakespeare?
