By entering the ‘Extend Your Summer’ competition you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions.
1. Instructions on how to enter, prize details and other information contained within the promotional
advertisements and point of sale materials form part of these terms and conditions. By participating in
this competition entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
2. The Promoters are Seven Network (Operations) Limited (ABN 65 052 845 262) of Level 2, 38-42 Pirrama
Road, Pyrmont NSW 2009 and West Australian Newspapers Ltd (ABN 98 008 667 632) of 50 Hasler Road,
Osborne Park WA 6017.
Who Can Enter
3. The competition is open to all residents of Western Australia aged 18 years or older.
Employees of the Promoters, Holidayplanet Group, their subsidiaries, their advertising agencies,
participating newsagents & resellers of The West Australian and The Weekend West newspapers, and
their immediate families are ineligible to enter. Immediate family includes any of the following: spouse,
ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent,
grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or
1st cousin or sibling living under the same roof.
Competition Period
4. The competition commences on Monday, February 29, 2016 and concludes on Thursday, March 3, 2016.
5. There are 4 (four) daily competition periods running until 3pm during the competition period.
6. Each daily competition period will be followed by a competition draw at 3:05pm.
How to Enter
7. To enter the daily competition you must:
7.1 Obtain an Extend Your Summer codeword from The West Australian. The codeword will be featured
within a press advertisement in each edition of the newspaper during the competition period.
7.2 For a valid entry, contestants must visit
www.thewest.com.au/summer. All mandatory details must
be completed including name, address, contact phone number, email address and codeword before
3pm each day of the promotion.
7.3 Contestant must watch Home and Away at 7:00pm on Channel Seven on the date that the daily
codeword has been registered online to see if their name has been drawn as the daily finalist. A name
will be featured on screen and the daily finalist will have 30 (thirty) minutes to call Channel Seven
Perth on 9344 0777 to validate.
7.4 At the end of the competition period there will be a maximum of 4 (four) daily finalists. A final winner
will be drawn randomly.
8. Strictly only one entry per person per day. Any persons found entering more than once each day will be
automatically disqualified. As there will be four daily codewords, one person may enter each day and will
have the opportunity to enter four times throughout the promotion.
Major Prize
9. The first valid entry drawn at random from the daily finalists will be deemed the prize winner and will
receive an economy return trip for two to a destination as outlined in Clause 10. and 5 (five) nights’ twin
share accommodation in a central four star hotel at your selected destination. Total prize value is a
minimum for $5,000.
10. Return Airfares for two persons to any one of a number of Hot European destinations including LondonRome-Paris-Athens-Barcelona-Copenhagen-Scotland
& Ireland or if you prefer choose from one of these
other top destinations Amsterdam, Ancona, Athens, Barcelona, Brindisi, Belgrade, Bologna, Banja Luka,
Berlin, Brussels, Bucharest, Casablanca, Catania, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Edinburgh, Florence, Frankfurt,
Genoa, Graz, Geneva, Innsbruck, Istanbul, Hamburg, Helsinki, Larnaca, Lugano, St Petersburg, London,
Madrid, Manchester, Milan, Moscow, Munich, Minsk, Nuremburg, Perugia, Paris, Rome, Palermo, Pisa,
Pescara, Regio Calabria, Oslo, Rabat, Sarajevo, Skopje, Stuttgart, Stockholm, Sofia, Split, Salzburg,
Podgorica, Tivat, Turin, Trieste, Vienna, Venice, Verona, Zagreb, Zurich.
11. The prize is subject to availability at the time of redemption and is available for travel in the following
periods February 1 - May 27, September 27 - November 30, 2016. A supplement of approximately $295
per person will apply if travel is required in these periods May 28 - June 10 and July 13 - September 26,
2016.
12. Travel must be booked before the March 31, 2016.
13. Extensions to the 5 nights’ accommodation can be made subject to availability. Holidayplanet will confirm
the extra costs payable at the time of request.
14. Reservations cannot be amended without costs being incurred by the winner.
15. Prize reservation must be made directly with Holiday Planet.
16. Prize is at prize provider’s discretion. Subject to availability.
17. No amendments or cancellations will be allowed and any unused flights/hotels/Cruise or transportation
will be forfeited.
18. The prize cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash.
19. No compensation will be given for any unused portion of land stay or transportation.
20. Tickets do not include excess luggage, luggage must be within the baggage guidelines of the airline.
21. The winner and any travelling companion(s) must depart and return at the same time using the same air
carrier.
22. Travel insurance is not included and strongly recommended. HolidayPlanet can quote at the time of
booking.
23. The winner is responsible for ensuring that they have valid passports, and any requisite visas, vaccinations
and travel documentation, itinerary to be determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion. Prize is
subject to the standard terms and conditions of individual prize and service providers.
24. Only one (1) prize draw will be conducted for this promotion and only one (1) prize will be awarded.
25. As a condition of accepting the prize, the winner must sign any legal documentation as and in the form
required by the Promoter and/or prize suppliers in their absolute discretion, including but not limited to a
legal release and indemnity form.
26. If the winner is unable to travel within the specified dates, the prize will be forfeited; dates cannot be
extended. The winner and their guest must travel together on the same flight. All costs associated with
changes to flight and accommodation details once booked are the responsibility of the winner.
27. If the prize (or part of the prize) is unavailable, the Promoter, in its discretion, reserves the right to
substitute the prize (or that part of the prize) with a prize of equal value and/or specification.
28. In the event of war, terrorism, state of emergency or disaster, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel,
terminate, modify or suspend the promotion or suspend of modify the prize, subject to any written
directions from a relevant regulatory authority.
Draw
29. The winner’s draw will take place at 10am, Friday, March 4, 2016 at Newspaper House offices. The winner
will be drawn randomly from all valid daily finalists.
30. The winner will be notified by telephone on Friday, March 4, 2016. In the instance that the winner
cannot be contacted on the phone number or email address provided by Friday, March 11, 2016, the
prize will be forfeited and a new winner will be drawn.
Privacy
31. You consent to the use by West Australian Newspapers Limited and related corporations (as defined by
the Corporations Act 2001) of Your details and acknowledge that West Australian Newspapers and
related corporations, may, at their discretion disclose and use those details for the purpose of providing
goods or services, communicating with subscribers, planning, research, product and business
development and sales, the promotion and marketing (whether targeted, direct or indirect) of their
businesses, services or products or those of a third party which it believes may be of benefit to them. The
details will also be used to investigate complaints, as required or permitted by any law, to enable West
Australian Newspapers and related corporations to perform its obligations under this or any other
agreement and to ensure that a subscriber performs their obligations under this or any other agreement.
32. If an entrant does not want their details to be used for the purposes stated in Clause 31. please write to

35. It is a condition of entry that all prize winners agree to have their name, photo and suburb published for
publicity purposes if required. By participating in this competition, participants signify their acceptance of
all conditions and the requirement to participate in promotional activity if required.
General
36. The Promoters’ decision on all matters related to this competition is final and cannot be contested. No
correspondence will be entered into. The Promoter reserves the right to limit entry or amend rules if
considered necessary without notice.
37. The Promoter is not responsible for any data or other information related to this program that may be
lost, damaged as a result of any computer software or hardware malfunction. Any issues occurring as a
result of computer problems will be rectified as quickly as possible.
38. All entrants release from, and indemnify the Promoters and Holidayplanet Group against, all liability, cost,
loss or expense arising out of acceptance of any prize(s) or participation in the competition including (but
not limited to) loss of income, personal injury and damage to property and whether direct or
consequential, foreseeable, due to some negligent act or omission or otherwise.
39. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any individual who the promoter believes has breached any
of these terms and conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct. The promoter
has legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender.
40. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings.
Independent financial advice should be sought by the winners.
41. The Promoter may, subject to State Regulations, terminate this competition at any time at its absolute
discretion without liability to any contestant or other person.
42. On completion of the prize draw, all entries will be stored for a 12 month period at The West Australian.
This is a mandatory requirement of the Gaming and Wagering Commission Act 1987.
