Canberra gets its handful of international film festivals over the year, but none of them quite match up to the Spanish Film Festival: with a consistently stellar lineup of films to pick and choose from, all homegrown in España. What's more, in 2016, the diverse and entertaining program contains more award-winners, lots of laughs, dramatic features, thrillers and documentaries. The program of 32 films and a session of shorts will screen exclusively at Palace Cinemas.
You can start your festival with a dose of hilarity on Tuesday April 19. That is of course with the opening night film, Spanish Affair 2 (Ocho Apellidos Catalanes), which is the sequel to last year’s opening night box office smash hit Spanish Affair. If one affair wasn't enough, Spanish Affair 2 will bring back all the laughter and romance of the record-breaking first film, with its playful take on the tensions between Spain's regions – this time including the Catalans in the mix! The film kicks off from 7pm.
