Riverside Theatres presents

NICK PARNELL

VIBES VIRTUOSO

With guest pianist Michael Ireace

Nick Parnell, one of the world’s greatest vibraphone players, will re-imagine some of music’s greatest ‘hits’ in this inspirational and energetic show.

Expect something for everyone with favourites such as Gershwin’s Summertime, Albeniz’s Tango and Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.

Ranging from the technically challenging to sheer lyrical beauty in the space of a heartbeat, the vibraphone and the piano meld superbly together.

Parnell manages to break down the elitism of classical music and make it available for everyone to enjoy – something he achieves with enviable mastery through Vibes Virtuoso.

“Dazzling dexterity… balanced with supreme delicacy.” – The Advertiser

“Nick Parnell is a complete and utter star. A brilliant and beautiful performer.” – Emma Ayres, ABC Classic FM “

… virtuosity worthy of the highest praise.” – The West Australian

Sunday 29 May at 3pm

Riverside Theatres presents

National Theatre of Parramatta

STOLEN

By Jane Harrison

National Theatre of Parramatta will be premiering a brand new fully staged production (the first since 2000) of this important Australian play. Five young Aboriginal children are forcibly removed from their parents, brought up in a repressive children’s home and trained for domestic service and other menial jobs. Segregated from society from their earliest years, not all of them successfully manage their lives when released into the outside world.

The pain, poignancy and sheer desperation of their lives is seen through the children’s own eyes as they struggle to make sense of a world in which they have been told to forget their families, their homes and their language. This tender and moving story, awash with childlike humour, brings the tragic history of the Stolen Generations to the Australian stage.

Immerse yourself in a story about the importance of family, understanding and issues that have impacted strongly on Aboriginal families.

June 2 - 17

A Sydney Theatre Company production

DISGRACED

By Ayad Akhtar

Faith, lies and aspiration.

New York. Today. Corporate lawyer Amir Kapoor (Sachin Joab) is happy, in love, and about to land the biggest promotion of his life. But beneath all the trappings, success has come at a price.

When Amir and his artist wife, Emily, host an intimate dinner party at their Upper East Side apartment, what starts out as a friendly conversation soon escalates into something far more damaging.

In dialogue that bristles with wit and complexity, Ayad Akhtar’s Pulitzer Prizewinning play puts contemporary attitudes toward religion under the microscope. The result is a fiercely intelligent and sensationally entertaining drama that reveals the prejudices and compromises of modern Western culture.

Guided by Sydney Theatre Company Resident Director Sarah Goodes (Switzerland), Disgraced is a complex and fearless production that will leave you breathless and keep you talking long after.

“Terrific, turbulent drama.” – The New York Times

“Disgraced rubs all kinds of unexpected raw spots with intelligence and humour.” – Newsday

June 16 - 18
