THE waiting room of a hospital. Is there anywhere worse in the world?
Michael is waiting to give blood.
His brother Justin is waiting for a transfusion.
Abbey is just, well, waiting.
They don’t know it yet, but they desperately need each other.
In the most unlikely of meeting places, they slowly trade secrets – and a surprising love story emerges.
This is the plot to Christopher Harley’s Stooged Theatre production Blood Bank.
Blood Bank will premiere at the Newcastle Civic Theatre Playhouse in August.
Director Carl Young (Between Two Waves) teams up with a powerhouse ensemble of Glen Waterhouse (The Removalists), Elise Bialek (Proof) and Janet Gillam (Checklist for an Armed Robber) for a romantic comedy that promises to make audiences laugh and cry.
The production will run for approximately 90 minutes without an interval.
It contains adult themes and coarse language.
Stooged Theatre recommends the play for audiences 14 and over.
Blood Bank will show at the Playhouse on August 10, 11, 12 and 13.
All shows start at 8pm.
There will be two showings of Blood Bank on Thursday, August 11. At 11am and 8pm.
Tickets, avialble from Ticketek, start from $35 for adults, $30 for concession/pensioners and $25 for those aged 21 and under.
