Win a double pass ticket to see The Secret Life of PetsEver wondered what your pet is thinking? Hollywood film makers certainly do, and have brought their ideas to the big screen in The Secret Life of Pets.
It’s a question Illumination Entertainment CEO Chris Meledandri, like many pet owners, had often thought about, and one that inspired his latest film.
“The minute I started to look at my own pets that way, I realized that everybody looks at their pets through that lens,” Meledandri said.
“Whether or not it’s a real emotional life or a projected one…it doesn’t matter.
“We’re fascinated with their inner lives and highly curious about what they’re doing and thinking when we’re not around.”
The Secret Life of Pets centers on Max, a much-loved pooch who adores his owner, Katie. Life is pretty sweet for Max, until Katie comes home with a giant, fluffy mongrel named Duke. The pair engage in a turf war with hilarious results.
“I imagine Max feels a bit like my nine-year-old son must have when my wife and I came home from the hospital with a new baby,” Meledandri said.
“Where did this guy come from? Who asked him here? My life was fine before he arrived and, no, I don’t want to share everything that I’ve got that’s so perfect.’”
The Secret Life of Pets opens in Australia on September 8, 2016.
