Making a splash from the moment it premiered in Melbourne earlier this year, SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN has received praise from critics and audiences alike and is set to delight Queensland audiences with the charm, romance, comedy and Tinseltown glamour of one of the world’s best loved movies.
Based on the 1952 MGM movie of the same name, starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds, the production tells the story of the first Hollywood musical, when the silver screen found its voice and left silent movies behind, along with some of its stars.
In Brisbane, sharing the role of Don Lockwood will be talented actors Rohan Browne and Grant Almirall. Playing Don’s sidekick Cosmo Brown is the dynamic Jack Chambers who received a Helpmann Award nomination for Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role in Musical for this role. The role of aspiring actress Kathy Selden is played by the extraordinary Gretel Scarlett, star of Grease, Wicked and Mamma Mia!
SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN combines high-energy performances, a superb score and a joyous storyline to bring the movie’s iconic choreography to life, showering audiences with everything they could wish for in a hit musical. With the help of 12,000 litres of recycled water, the audience can enjoy one of the most famous dance scenes live on stage, with some leaving the theatre a little wetter than when they arrived!
