Lizard Island is remote, secluded and beautiful, with 24 sandy beaches, a lagoon and the peak Captain James Cook once climbed to plot the passage of The Endeavour through the outer reef. The one-hour flight from Cairns provides unforgettable views of the Great Barrier Reef. There are only two small permanent human habitations – the Australian Museum’s Research Station and the Lizard Island Resort.
The Resort completed a $45m+ refurbishment in 2015. It provides an idyllic, luxurious, eco-friendly base for exploring local marine life, with resident naturalist-guides and coral reefs close to the beaches. There are also lots of choices to relax and be pampered.
The Resort has once again generously agreed to support our LIRRF fundraising by donating a wonderful prize: a 3-night stay for 2 people.
The prize includes return flights from Cairns, accommodation in a Sunset Point Villa Room; gourmet meals; unlimited non-alcoholic beverages; fine Australian and New Zealand wine, beer and spirits; picnic hampers; use of non-motorised water sports and motorised dinghies; and a tour of the Research Station where you will see first hand why the science is so important. Any additional items will be charged and will need to be settled prior to departure.
The winner will be determined by a lottery draw conducted at the Australian Museum on 17 July 2017. Everyone who makes a donation of $100 or more to LIRRF between 1 July 2016 and 30 June 2017 will be included in the draw.
The prize is valid for redemption prior to 31 July 2018 and will be forfeited if not redeemed by this date. It is not transferable, available for sale or redeemable for cash.
Resort bookings are subject to availability and black-out dates may apply. The Resort’s standard Amendment and Cancellation fees will apply once a booking has been made.
The Resort is supporting LIRRF fund-raising with another generous offer. If you are a LIRRF Member (i.e if you have made a donation of $1,000 or more in the last 12 months), you will qualify for a 20% discount on any stay of 3 or more nights (except in the last week of October and in the Christmas-New Year period). Your donation to LIRRF will be tax deductible in Australia. Do the math – you will see this is a really worthwhile option. Here are the steps:
