Throw everything you know about classical music out the window. Queensland Symphony Orchestra is breaking the rules with its genre-busting, off-the-wall contemporary music series QSOCurrent on March 25 and April 29.

On Saturday March 25, hear Australian rock legend Ed Kuepper like you’ve never seen him before at his new performance Ed Kuepper Restrung. In a world first, Ed will join QSO at The Tivoli to perform spankin’ new orchestrations of his latest releases and old favourites, which have been recomposed for this one-off show. This is stripped-back Ed Kuepper and his guitar, with QSO illuminating his masterful songwriting and distinctive gruff vocals.

Over at Brisbane Powerhouse on Saturday April 29, QSO Music Director Alondra de la Parra leads a whopping program of Australian firsts in Fever Pitch. The action-packed concert will feature new works by Mexican composer Enrico Chapela – taking audiences from a soccer match to volcanic eruptions – and a kaleidoscopic commission by legendary Australian composer Joe Chindamo. Straight from Berlin Philharmonic, Edicson Ruiz – one of the world’s most in-demand double bass soloists – will also wow.

The Weekend Edition and QSO are giving one lucky reader the chance to win four tickets (that’s you and three friends!) to both Ed Kuepper Restrung and Fever Pitch, valued at $312. Enter now for your chance to win.

Competition closes 11:59 pm Monday March 20, 2017. Winners will be contacted by phone and email.
