The Zookeeper’s Wife is a drama based on the real-life story and wartime diaries of Antonina Żabińska (portrayed by Jessica Chastain), a Polish woman and working mother who became a hero to hundreds during World War II. The film is set in Poland 1939, where Antonina and her husband Jan were owners of Warsaw Zoo. Following the Nazi invasion, Antonina and Jan worked with the Resistance to shelter hundreds of displaced Jews, risking their own lives in the process.



The film is directed by Niki Caro and adapted from the book ‘The Zookeeper’s Wife’ by Diane Ackerman, and is due for release in cinemas on the 4th of May.

The Australian Jewish News, in conjuction with Roadshow Films, has ten double passes to giveaway for a special advanced screening of The Zookeeper’s Wife on Tuesday, 18 April, at 6.30pm in Sydney.

Competition entries close on Friday, April 14 2017 at noon. The winners will be drawn at The AJN Melbourne office on Friday, April 14 at 3pm. The winners will be drawn randomly and contacted by email only, using the email registered by the winner. The AJN cannot be held responsible for entrants failing to check their email or providing incorrect information. Winners’ names and details may be passed on to the promoter for winners to redeem prizes. Please note that the prizes are only those mentioned in the competition notice and are non-exchangeable.
