The winners of the 2017 Gold Coast Sports Star Awards will be announced in a gala event at the Southport Sharks Event Centre on 15 February 2018.

Nominees must be an athlete, sporting team, club coach or official that has achieved a significant result in their chosen sport during the 2017 calendar year. The standard of result achieved can be from a local competition level through to the top of the world sporting stage at international level.
NOMINATIONS SO FAR:
Ali Day – surf lifesaving: Won a record-equalling 5th Coolangatta Gold.
Alyce Burnett – kayaking: Won the women’s K1 1000 World Championship.
Ashleigh Gentle – triathlon: Ranked second in the world for 2017.
Courtney Hancock – surf lifesaving: Won the 2017 Coolangatta Gold – taking her Coolangatta Gold tally to three.
Harriet Brown – surf lifesaving: Won the 2016-17 Kellogg’s Ironwoman Series; won the Paddleboard World Championships.
Jamie Whincup – motor racing: Claimed his record-extending seventh V8 Supercars title.
Jarrod Wallace – rugby league: Gold Coast-born, made his State of Origin debut in Qld’s 11th Series win over the NSW Blues.
Jeff Lloyd – jockey: Won the 2017 Magic Millions aboard Houtzen and broke a series of records to be crowned the state’s top jockey for the 2016-17 season.
Katrin Garfoot – cycling: Won silver in the road race at the World Road Cycling Championships.
Ken Wallace and Jordan Wood – kayaking: Won gold in the K4 1000 at the World Championships.
Logan Martin – BMX Freestyle: Won the inaugural BMX Freestyle World Championship.
Mathew Belcher – Sailing: Won his seventh World title (470 class).
Matt Hauser – triathlon: World Junior Triathlon Champion and a member of the winning World Teams Relay team.
Matt Poole – surf lifesaving: Won the 2016-17 Nutri-Grain Ironman Series.
Sally Pearson – athletics (hurdles): Won the world 100m hurdles championship.
Shakira Westdorp – stand up paddleboard surfing: Won back-to-back Women’s SUP Surfing World Championship crowns.
