WITH THE month of May comes the promise of honey puffs, Zorba Walking and plate-smashing.
Paniyiri will once again take over Musgrave Park in the annual festival of all things Greek, when Brisbanites practise their best “Opa”.
A mainstay of the city’s culinary calendar, Paniyiri will this year celebrate 42 years of showcasing Greek cuisine and culture.
It’s Australia’s longest running Greek festival, which started in 1976 when a group of passionate Greek Australians wanted to share their culture and tradition with Brisbane.
More than 60,000 people are expected to descend on the two-day festival at South Brisbane.
The program of events includes cooking demonstrations, food stalls, Hellenic dancers, grape stomping and Brisbane’s Best Baklava honours.

The competition opens at 9am on Wednesday 9 May 2018 and closes at midnight on Sunday 13 May 2018. Winners will be notified on Monday 14 May.
