Song Beyond Survival is a concert celebrating German Jewish composers, presented by Jewish Arts at the Australian Jewish Choral Festival.
The main focus of the concert will be on composers who escaped Nazi Germany and went on to make major cultural contributions in their new countries – like Kurt Weill and Heinrich Schalit (USA), Paul Ben Chaim and Yehezkel Braun (Israel), and George Dreyfus AM (Australia).
The splendid repertoire will be sung by a range of choirs including the Emanuel Synagogue Choir, Coro Austral, and the North Shore Temple Emanuel Choir. The ‘Instant Choirs’ formed during the festival weekend will also perform, as well as the massed Festival Choir, under the direction of the festival’s illustrious visiting conductors.
This choral feast will be held on Monday, 11 June, at the Verbrugghen Hall, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, at 6.45pm.
An optional kosher reception follows the concert, at $10 per person.
