Item 4 Eligibility to enter
Entry is available to Australian Residents only, exclusing South Australia & ACT, aged 18 years and over. There is no limit to the number of entries a person may purchase.
Q. How can I enter?
A. Individuals can enter by selecting a ticket package on the competition page. Entrants can choose a Yearly subscription term@ $78/year which includes 100 tickets, or a 2 Yearly subscription term @ $132 which includes 200 tickets.
Existing members of Coastalwatch Plus may purchase ticket packages at any time throughout the competition. The subscription term chosen in the ticket package will be added on top of their existing subscription term. Any unused time remaining on their subscription term will be added onto the next renewal date.
All members of Coastalwatch Plus may purchase additional ticket packages at any time throughout the competition for more chances to win. The subscription term chosen in the ticket package will be added on top of their existing subscription term. Cancellation of a membership will void any previously awarded entries.

Q. Who is running this competition?
A. The promoters details and associated parties are listed in Item 1 of the Annexure.
Q. Who can enter?
A. Entry is available to Australian Residents only aged 18 years and over. (Item 4)
Q. What kind of competition is this?
A. This competition is a game of chance. By entering, all entrants acknowledge that by purchasing a Coastalwatch Plus competition ticket package they are receiving the specified number of entries into the lottery (or chances of winning).
Q. How do I know if my entries have been accepted? A. Your entry will be deemed acceptable once you have received your successful competition entry confirmation email from the promotor. The promotor takes no responsibility if your entry is lost, late or misdirected. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
Q. What happens once my entry is received?
A. Your entry will become the property of the promoter who may use your personal information in order to conduct the competition. The information you provide, unless you advise the Promoter in writing and the promoter confirms its receipt (also in writing) will be stored and entered into a database and may be used for future competitions, marketing, and publicity purposes in any media without notice and without any fee being paid. The information you provide, unless you advise the Promoter in writing and the promoter confirms its receipt (also in writing) may also be supplied to our third partner sponsor of this competition, World Surfaris. Entrants consent to the Promoter using their name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this promotion (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter.
Q. When do entries into the competition open?
A. Entries will open at 9.00am AEST Monday 14th May 2018.
Q. When do entries into the competition close?
A. Entries will close at 3.00pm AEST Friday 20th July 2018.
Q. When will the price be drawn?
A. On Friday 20th July 2018 at 3.30pm AEST at 681 Barrenjoey Road Avalon NSW 2107. The first valid entry will receive a prize. The promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Q. What happens once the winner is drawn?
A. The winner will be notified by email and a phone call within 24hours of the draw taking place. The winner may also be published on the Coastalwatch social media platforms within 48 hours of the draw taking place. If necessary, a second chance draw will be held on Monday 30th July 2018, at the same time and place as the first draw(s) in order to distribute any unclaimed prize. Winner will be notified by telephone and email within 2 days of the second chance draw.
Q. What happens if I no longer wish to take part in the competition?
A. You need to advise the Promoter in writing.
Q. What are the dates of travel for the trip?
A. Trip 1 – Maldives, August 2018 (Please note the short lead time between the competition being drawn and the first trip. The winner must be aware of this and be able to travel at short notice.) Trip 2 – Samoa, November 2018. Trip 3 – Mentawai’s – March 2019 and Trip 4 – J-Bay June/July 2019.
Q. Can I change the dates of the trip?
A. No, the winner must be able to attend all dates of the four trips, the prize is non- transferable, the date cannot be changed, and cannot be redeemed for cash.
Q. What is the value of the prize?
A. Please see Item 3 in the Annexure. The total value of the prize is in Australian dollars and includes GST. The recommended retail value is provided by the supplier, correct at the time of printing. The promoter accepts no responsibility if the value of the prize changes.
Q. Is there more than one winner?
A. There is only one (1) winner and one (1) prize pack for that winner. The prize cannot be transferred shared or redeemed for cash.
Q. How do I claim the prize?
A. The prize package must be claimed within seventy-two (72) hours of the winner being published. If the prize remains unclaimed or the winner is unable to accept the prize (for whatever reason), the winner will forfeit their prize and will have no claim. The promoter reserves the right to re-award at the same location such unclaimed prizes within seven (7) days of the original prize being awarded. In the event of a re-allocated winner, their details will be published on the promoter’s website within twenty-four (24) hours of the re-award. As a condition of accepting a prize, each winner (and his/her companions) must sign any legal documentation as and in the form required by the Promoter and/or prize suppliers in their absolute discretion, including but not limited to a legal release and indemnity form.
Q. What is not covered in the cost of the prize?
A. All expenses (including but not limited to delivery, taxes, visas and insurances) become the responsibility of the winner unless otherwise stated in the prize description in Item 3 of the Annexure.
Q. What will I get if the original prize is unavailable?
A. If any prize (or part of any prize) is unavailable, the Promoter, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the prize (or that part of the prize) with a prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority.
Q. What happens if my prize/ elements of prize are damaged or lost?
A. The promoter and its associated agencies and companies take no responsibility if the prize is delayed, damaged or lost in transit.
Q. Are there any tax implications?
A. Sometimes this may happen. You may wish to seek independent tax advice prior to accepting the prize.
Q. What happens if I incur a loss or damage from the prize?
A. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the States and Territories of Australia. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) is not responsible for and excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion, including: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant; or (f) use of a prize and/or participation in any holiday prize.
Q. What can alter or prevent the competition from taking place?
A. The promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either caused by:
- defects, delays and any other problems affecting technical equipment or telecommunication systems
- infection by computer virus, bugs, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the promoter
- tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud
- intervention of any outside agent or event which naturally changed the result or presents or hinders its determination, including but not limited to:
- vandalism, power failures, civil unrest, strikes
- tempests, natural disasters, acts of God.
Q. Can I be excluded from the competition?
A. The promoter can disqualify any individual who the promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions and /or engaged in any unlawful or other misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper running of the competition.
Q. Can I cancel my Coastalwatch Plus subscription after entering and/or if I am the winning entrant?
A. If membership is cancelled at any point prior to the competition competition and/or trip to entrants / winner forfeits all rights to prize fulfilment.
Q. What travel Documents are required?
A. The winner and their chosen guest MUST have a valid passport with a minimum of 12 months’ validity for International Travel and be able to travel to the destinations specified.
Q. Does the competition include travel insurance?
A. No, this is the responsibility of the winner and their guest.
Q. Does the competition include travel to the departing airport?
A. The winner and their guest are required to use the travel voucher supplied and/or their own additional funds to cover all travel unless otherwise specified
