An exhibition at Melbourne Museum in Carlton pays tribute to the life of Nelson Mandela in celebration of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Mandela My Life: The Official Exhibition runs until March 3 and features rare and fascinating original objects from the life of the political prisoner who went on to become South African prime minister.
Items include a boxing glove signed by Muhammad Ali and gifted to Mandela, the shoes and walking cane he used in his senior years and a collection of some of his favourite Madiba shirts. There’s also a rare passbook – a relic of the apartheid regime – which was signed by Mandela himself.
