From great works of fiction to self-help guides, there’s something for everyone on our list of recommended titles … and we tell you how you can win all nine books!

Whether you plan to spend the summer lounging around by the pool or staying cool indoors, there’s nothing like a good book to keep you company.
Money has teamed up with bookseller Dymocks to come up with nine books that we think would make great reading this summer – everything from a guide to financial success to works of fiction.
All the books featured have been released in the past 18 months and fall into one of three categories: personal finance; business success/inspirational; and fiction.
To start off the summer on a good note, Dymocks is giving away one copy of each of the nine books we have reviewed to one lucky Money reader.
Financial adviser Scott Pape and motivational speaker Timothy Ferriss make a repeat appearance on our list of recommended titles this year with their latest books.
The $1000 Project
Canna Campbell, $34.99
Financial planner Canna Campbell saved $32,000 in 12 months by using her unique strategy of bundling – saving and earning extra money in small, achievable parcels of $1000. In this book, she shares her tips and tricks to help you save and earn, too. She also has plenty of advice so you can turn your savings into long-term passive income through savvy investments.
Unf*ck Your Finances
Melissa Browne, $24.99
Most of us would rather be caught naked than have our finances open to view. Mel Browne challenges people to change their thinking. She offers tips on how to set up savvy savings accounts, make the right investments and discover why budgeting is a dirty word. This book aim to help you become not just financially unf*cked … but financially well.
The Barefoot Investor for Families
Scott Pape, $29.95
Scott Pape’s latest book is aimed at parents and grandparents to help their children reach 10 important money milestones before they leave home. There are lessons for each age group including learning the value of hard work and setting up jam jars to budget and save.
Tribe of Mentors
Timothy Ferriss, $32.99
Podcast guru Tim Ferriss tracked down more than 100 eclectic experts to help him, and you, navigate life. He shares their secrets for success, happiness, meaning, and more. The book reveals more than 50 morning routines, best purchases of $100 or less, ways to handle the overwhelming amount of information you process every day
and much more.
Principles
Ray Dalio, $45
Ray Dalio, one of the world’s most successful investors and entrepreneurs, shares the unconventional principles that he’s developed, refined, and used over the past 40 years to create unique results in both life and business. His book also offers a clear, straightforward approach to decision-making that Dalio believes anyone can apply, no matter what they’re seeking to achieve.
Fly!
Richard de Crespigny, $32.99
In 2010, thousands of feet in the air, Captain Richard de Crespigny and his crew confronted extraordinary challenges when the A380 they were flying suffered a catastrophic explosion. The captain and his crew remained calm in the stressful situation, thanks to great leadership, teamwork and skill. Here Richard de Crespigny shares the insights and techniques he built up over decades in aviation.
The Nowhere Child
Christian White, $32.99
In Melbourne, Kim Leamy is approached by a stranger investigating the disappearance of a little girl from her Kentucky home 28 years earlier. He believes Kim is that girl. At first she brushes it off, but when Kim scratches the surface of her family history in Australia, questions arise that aren’t easily answered. To find the truth, she must travel to the missing girl’s home town into a dark past.
Boy Swallows Universe
Trent Dalton, $32.99
A lost father, a mute brother, a mum in jail, a heroin dealer for a stepfather and a notorious crim for a babysitter. It’s not as if Eli’s life isn’t complicated enough already. He’s just trying to follow his heart, learning what it takes to be a good man, yet life just keeps throwing obstacles in the way. But Eli’s life is about to get a whole lot more serious.
Cedar Valley
Holly Throsby, $29.99
On the first day of summer in 1993, two strangers arrive in the town of Cedar Valley. One is a calm looking man in a brown suit. The other is 21-year-old Benny Miller who is searching for information about her recently deceased mother, Vivian. Is there any connection between the man and Benny’s quest to learn more about
her mother?
