Academy Award® winning screen legend Morgan Freeman and rising action star Ruby Rose join forces in the high-calibre action thriller Vanquish, which hits home entertainment on Wednesday June 2.
Co-written and directed by industry veteran George Gallo (Middle Men, Midnight Run, Bad Boys), Vanquish pits the Academy Award winning Freeman’s famous gravitas against the youthful intensity of Rose, in a film that was inspired by Gallo’s love of the Korean gangster genre, which he says have a “cool, bouncy and deliciously dark vibe and most importantly, a great sense of humour”.
Rose might have stepped away from DC’s Batwoman after one season, but her appetite for action (John Wick: Chapter 2, The Doorman) remains undiminished. In Vanquish, she stars as Victoria, a mother trying to put her dark past behind her, until retired cop, Damon Hickey (Morgan Freeman) forces her to run a series of increasingly dangerous missions by holding her daughter hostage.
As she runs the gauntlet of underworld gangsters and corrupt cops, she confronts her past and searches for redemption, with her daughter’s life in the balance. Gallo commented, “I love stories that have highly flawed main characters who during the course of the tale get a chance to redeem themselves”.
