GreazeFest 2021 will present an all-Australian program of entertainment featuring rockabilly performers, pin-up parades, art exhibitions, pinstripers, tiki carvers, retro markets and hot rod displays.
"The rockabilly and hot rod scene is a very interactive lifestyle. We have missed our friends and our way of life throughout 2020 and are looking forward to reconnecting our communities at GreazeFest," event director Lori Lee Cash said.
"Our GreazeFest Covid-safe event plan has been approved by Queensland Health, and yes, there will be dancing. Our dance floor and concert set up have received the tick of approval," she said.
Kings of blues and rock'n'roll, The Detonators will be special guests at GreazeFest, along with other interstate artists including rockabilly trio The Flattrakkers, guitar slinger Pat Capocci, singer Rusty Pinto, honky tonk piano pounder Ezra Lee and Tamworth Golden Guitar nominee Red Rivers.
Queensland artists include the vintage science-fiction group Men Into Space, who perform dressed as mid-century astronauts, the high-energy Hi-Boys, the vintage surf sounds of Lovejoy Surf, master rockabilly trio Slim Gritty and the swinging Krisofer Dommin and The Oztones. There will be original sounds from Cherry Divine, country sweethearts Twang, Miss Teresa and Her Rhythmaires, as well as rhythm 'n' blues' Peaches and The Alphasonics.
There will be 400 classic vehicles from the 1930s to the 1960s on the weekend, with display of hot rods, muscle cars, vintage motorbikes and low rider bicycles.
GreazeFest pinups will offer two parades, including Wild West Sweethearts on July 31 and The Hot Rod Belle on August 1.
Built for Speed is an inspiring and colourful two-day art exhibition showcasing a love affair with fast machines. Additional art activities include pinstripe artist Julz Neville. Neville offers live pinstriping demonstrations and visitors are encouraged to bring a portable and personal item to be pinstriped before their eyes.
There will also be the GreazeFest vintage and retro markets with rockabilly clothing, automobilia, artwork, music, hair grease and accessories, cowboy boots and model cars.
Hours are 7pm to midnight on July 30, 10am to 10pm on July 31 and 9am to 6pm on August 1.
Tickets are from $15 to $35 with children under 12 free. Booking details on greazefest.com
