April 15 isn’t going to be Good Friday, it’ll be Great Friday with Cinemaniacs hosting a screening of Wes Craven‘s 1972 feature LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT at ACMI in Melbourne, proceeded by a lecture with award-winning film critic and author Alexandra Heller-Nicholas.
LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT follows two teenage girls who are headed to a rock concert for one’s birthday. While trying to score marijuana in the city, they are kidnapped and brutalised by a gang of psychotic convicts.
From Ingmar Bergman to Turkish exploitation film, in her introductory lecture Alexandra Heller-Nicholas maps out the influences and legacies of Wes Craven’s iconic film.
