Win an original artwork prize for leg-tagged flagged Sanderling this summer!
Are you at the beach this summer with a camera? We are looking for images of Sanderling birds – particularly those with leg tags on them.
The observation of Sandlering is an important part of the Discovery Bay Sanderling Tracking Project which is trying to find out the location of the birds to allow researchers to attach small tracking devices to some birds to better understand their migratory habits.

As incentive to get you snapping photos of their tags, we are offering 3 monthly prizes prize of a Jimmi Buscombe print and a major prize of original painting of “Sanderling on Plantation Teak”.

Monthly prizes of a print of the artwork will be chosen from all images submitted to this competition before 11.59pm on the last day of the month for January, February and March 2022.
Winners will be chosen from the images and a winner announced on the 7th of the following month.
MAJOR PRIZE
All photographs submitted to Glenelg Hopkins CMA between 1 January, 2022 and April 29, 2022, will be in the running to win the major prize.
The major prize will be an original Jimmi Buscombe artwork (valued at approx. $1100)
Winners will be chosen from all the images with readable leg flags emailed to
glenelgramsar@ghcma.vic.gov.au by 5pm Friday April 29 2022.
Monthly winners will be announced on the February 7, March 7 and April 7 2022.
Major prize winner will be announced May 15 2022.
