A burger with a “sinkhole” in its lid comes to Darlinghurst – and 250 will be given away for free on International Burger Day.
In celebration of 20th Century Studios’ new animated musical The Bob’s Burgers Movie being released just prior to International Burger Day (May 28), Darlinghurst takeaway burger joint BL Burgers has created a custom burger inspired by the film. And it’s a doozy.
Based on the animated television series Bob's Burgers, The Bob's Burgers Movie stars the voices of voices of Kristen Schaal, Zach Galifianakis, Kevin Kline, and Harry Jon Benjamin who plays burger joint owner Bob Belcher. When Belcher and his family discover a sinkhole caused by a ruptured water main blocking the entrance to their store, it throws the family’s plans for a busy summer into disarray. The three Belcher kids – Tina, Gene, and Louise – set about solving the mystery that could save the family business.
To honour the film, James and Sarah Robbins, the husband-and-wife duo behind BL Burgers have created a burger inspired by the sinkhole that kicks off the action in The Bob’s Burger Movie. Dubbed the Hole Lotta Belching burger, it features a “sinkhole” in burger form, care of gravy poured into a hole cut into the top of the milk bun. As well as the gravy, the burger features a BL beef patty, American cheese, streaky bacon, a fried egg, crispy onion strings and jalapeno aioli – “to give it a kick”.
On Saturday May 28 – International Burger Day – BL Burgers are giving away the Hole Lotta Belching burger to 250 lucky customers. Each one will be wrapped in a custom Bob’s Burgers wrapper.
