The crown jewel in the Australian competitive eating calendar, Luna Park’s 7th Annual Hot Dog Eating Competition returns on Saturday, 23rd July 2022 with new and updated format for both seasoned professionals and gutsy amateurs alike.
‘Mustard’ the courage, chew through the opposition and ‘snag’ the title of 2022’s ‘Weiner’.
Presented with the assistance of Primo Foods and Heinz ketchup and mustards, Melbourne’s original ‘Home of Fun’ Luna Park will once again play host to a challenge of most delicious proportions.
Under the watchful eye of Competitive Eating Australia’s ‘Top Dog’ Billy Boyd, Australia’s finest competitive eaters will do battle for a cash prize, coveted trophy, and an annual pass to come back and enjoy all the fun of Luna Park’s rides for 12 months… on an emptier stomach.
Get your buns into Luna Park early for the best seat in the house and witness impressive feats of gastronomic stamina as Australia’s best competitive eaters face off against each other with rivalries, pride, and their stomachs on the line.
Here’s What To Expect
Date: Saturday 23 July, 2022
Time: Park Open at 11am and closes at 6pm
Primo: Hot Dog Eating Competition 2pm Professional Division (open)/Amateur 2:30pm
Location: The Pavilion inside Luna Park (opposite the Sky Rider Ferris Wheel)
The food frenzy kicks off at 2pm with the Pro Open chomp-comp with 12 gutsy challengers battling it out to eat the most hot dogs they can in 10 minutes. This will be closely followed at 2.30 by the Amateur comp open to all who want to give it a go – but spots are limited so make sure you register for selection!
Crushing of buns together is not permitted
Any buns that have been crushed beyond recognition will not be counted toward the total
The person who eats the most HDB’s in that 10-minute period will be deemed the winner and will be awarded the major prize.
‘Chipmunking’ at the end of the competition time is allowed
Dunking throughout the competition is allowed. Water will be provided
To be a spectator you can purchase an Entry Ticket for $15 only which includes one ride, OR Book an unlimited Rides Daily ticket make it a full day out! Park Opens at 11am. Competition starts at 2pm
Prizes
For both Amateur and Professional competitions, Winner, and Runner Up prizes will be awarded to those contestants who eat the highest number of hot dogs within the allotted time of 10 minutes.
