After the last couple of years (thanks for nothing, La Niña), we’re really crossing our fingers for a summer filled with sunshine. While our friends at BoM aren’t willing to make any rain-free promises, our even better friends at Sunshine & Sons are here to make all our dreams come true. The Sunshine Coast Hinterland-based distillery has announced the Summer of Sunshine, partnering with six Brisbane restaurants and bars to concoct some exclusive gin-infused cocktails. Across December and January, Gerard’s Bar, Leonard’s Bar and Dawn, Walter’s Steakhouse, One Fish Two Fish, OnPointQB and the Sandgate Post Office Hotel will all be serving a special summer-inspired cocktail, all made using Sunshine & Sons quintessentially Queensland pot-distilled gin. There are six unique cocktails to try, such as the Italian Sun at OnPointQB featuring Sunshine & Sons dry gin with Aperol, apple juice and Bandini Prosecco Rosé, and the Coast Trip at Gerard’s Bar, featuring Sunshine & Sons gin with native rose vermouth, redcurrant, pomegranate and fizz.
To celebrate the Summer of Sunshine, The Weekend Edition has partnered with Sunshine & Sons to give one lucky reader and seven friends a VVIP Distillery Experience including tastings, cocktails on arrival and a sumptuous seafood lunch.
The VVIP Distillery Experience will be hosted in Sunshine & Sons exclusive barrel room or cocktail terrace, lead by one of the distillery’s founders. You and seven friends will get to savour the extensive spirits range, learn about the history of gin and distilling, as well as the story of the distillery, including the company’s continuing goal to see its spirits take their rightful place on the world stage. During your tour you’ll also get to witness the ageing of Australia’s first certified-organic rum, Nil Desperandum. To round things off, you and your friends will be treated to a delectable seafood lunch spread in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
