Terms and conditions
By entering the University of Canberra ABN: 81 633 873 422, CRICOS Provider No. 00212K (Promoter) TikTok Competition (Promotion), you (Entrant) agree to the following Terms and Conditions (Terms):
1. General
1.1 Each Entrant warrants that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the Terms.
1.2 The Promotion commences on Monday 30 January 2023 at 12:00am AEDT and closes on Friday 3 March 2023 at 5:00pm AEDT (Promotion Period). Any entry that is not received during the Promotion Period will be invalid.
2. Eligibility
2.1 Entry is open to Australian residents aged 17 years and over.
2.2 Full-time employees of the Promoter are not eligible to enter the Promotion.
2.3 Incomplete or incorrect entries, or entries containing offensive or defamatory comments, or which breach any law or infringe any third-party rights, will not be eligible to win.
2.4 The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and may in its sole discretion disqualify any entrant it believes has subverted or attempted to subvert the entry process or who submits an entry not in accordance with these Terms.
3. How to enter
3.1 Entrants must follow the University of Canberra on TikTok (@unicanberra).
3.2 Entrants must like the competition post on TikTok.
3.3 Entrants must comment on the competition post on TikTok and tag a friend (TikTok handle).
3.4 1 comment and tag equals 1 entry.
3.5 Entrants are required to complete all steps.
3.6 The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any entries not received for any reason during the Promotion Period.
3.7 No responsibility will be taken for late or misdirected entries. The Promoter is not responsible for any technical difficulties the Entrant may have when entering the competition.
4. Winner Selection
4.1 Winners will be drawn at 2:00pm AEDT on Tuesday 7 March 2023 at the University of Canberra, Building 6, 11 Kirinari Street Bruce, ACT, 2617.
4.2 The Promoter will place Entrants into an online random generator to choose 1 major prize and 5 runner ups (Winners).
4.3 The Promoter will ensure Winners have completed all required steps of the competition.
4.4 Winners must still be following the University of Canberra on TikTok at the time of the prize being drawn.
4.5 The Promoter will contact the Winners by direct message on TikTok.
4.6 The Winners TikTok handle will be published via Stories on the University of Canberra’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts at 5:00pm AEDT Tuesday 7 March 2023.
4.7 Winners must respond to the direct TikTok message, send a direct message to the official Facebook or Instagram accounts of the Promotor, or email the Promoter, Social Media team (
socialmedia@canberra.edu.au) to claim their prize by 5:00pm AEDT Friday 10 March 2023. If the prize is not claimed on or prior to this date, Winners will forfeit their prize and 2 new Winners will be drawn, for the unclaimed prize. The re-draw will take place at 2:00pm AEDT on Monday 13 March 2023 at the University of Canberra, Building 6, 11 Kirinari Street Bruce, ACT, 2617.
5. Prize details
5.1 There is 1 major prize to be won to the maximum value of $500 and 5 runner up prizes of $50 each.
5.2 Prize amounts will be given as Visa gift cards.
5.3 Winners can collect their prize at the University of Canberra, Building 6, 11 Kirinari Street Bruce, ACT, 2617.
5.4 If the Winner is unable to collect the prize in person, the Promoter will send the prize amount to the Winner as a direct bank transfer.
5.5 The prize is not transferable or exchangeable.
5.6 In the unlikely event that the prize is not available, the Promoter reserves the right to offer an alternative of equal or similar value.
5.7 The Promoter accepts no responsibility for circumstances beyond its control that may change aspects of the prize.
6. Privacy
6.1 If the Entrant is a Winner, the Entrant consents to the disclosure, publication, and dissemination of their TikTok handle for the purposes of the Promotion, and UC’s advertising and marketing purposes (as Winner of the Promotion).
7. Termination
7.1 If the Promotion cannot be run as planned, whether caused by infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures, illness, or any other cause beyond the Promoter’s control which affects the administration, security, fairness or integrity of the Promotion, or the availability of aspects of the prize, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Promotion.
8. Decision final
8.1 In all matters, all decisions of the Promoter will be final and cannot be contested. No correspondence or discussions will be entered into.
