MERLO DESIGN COMPETITION

CALLING ALL CREATIVES!

How would you like to showcase your artistic skills across millions of takeaway coffee cups on a daily basis?

We are inviting all creatives to submit their designs for use across our takeaway coffee cups.

Your work will not only be seen across hundreds of cafes nationally, but we are also giving you the opportunity to showcase your portfolio in one of our company owned retail stores, plus cash prizes of $2,500 & $5,000 for the lucky winners.

COMPETITION DETAILS | There are two separate competitions being run concurrently. Applicants can choose to enter one or both. Full details below:

COMPETITION #1 - MERLO BRANDED CUPS

We are looking for a collective set of four separate designs, one each to be used across our Merlo branded 4oz, 8oz, 12oz & 16oz takeaway cups for a minimum period of 6 months.

The winning artwork can not only adorn our take-away cups, but has potential to be utilised across other assets such as instore t-shirts and merchandise.

Within this category we are asking artists to prominently feature the Merlo logo (attached) and are looking for designs that principally retain (50% minimum) Merlo’s signature blue colour (PMS 3005) in order to maintain brand identity and awareness. You are also given the option to include our tagline ‘Coffee for the bold’.

THE PRIZE | one winner: $5,000 cash

Design on 4 x Merlo branded cups (approx 12 million in circulation)
1,700+ cafes nationally
Portfolio displayed & available for sale in a Merlo store
Blog feature and artist link featured on Merlo website
EDM feature reaching 140K+ subscribers
Social post reaching circa 30K followers.


COMPETITION #2: UNBRANDED ART SERIES CUPS

We are looking for a collective set of three separate designs, one each to be used across our 8oz, 12oz & 16oz takeaway cups for a minimum period of 6 months.

These cups are non-Merlo branded and used by customers across our network of 1700+ cafes and restaurants. Because the spectrum of customers is quite broad, we are looking for a variety of artistic approaches to suit the various styles of fit outs and furnishings our customers employ. As such there is no creative direction on the style of design to be created, we will leave this to you, the artist, on what you think holds universal appeal.

$2,500 cash for each winner

Design on 3 x Art Series Cups (approx. 2 million in circulation)
1700+ cafes nationally
Portfolio displayed & available for sale in a Merlo store
Blog feature and artist link featured on Merlo website
