Brisbane Festival is back for another year of world premieres, sensory experiences and theatre triumphs from August 30 to September 21. From immersive theatre to floating burlesque and prolific dance performances, Brisbane Festival has curated a world-class program of events that’s set to once again challenge, excite and ignite.
This year, the festival has snagged the riotous runway show Fashion Freak Show from the legendary Jean Paul Gautier, alongside an ethereal exhibition from local talent Grace Lillian Lee, collaborative fashion installations and more. As part of this unmissable event, Jean Paul Gaultier has designed hundreds of new exclusive outfits that will be showcased with some of his most iconic creations on the Brisbane runway. Conceived like a grand party featuring an exuberant playlist – spanning disco, funk, pop, rock, new wave and punk – we can expect this latest creation by fashion’s enfant terrible to shock and thrill.
Fan-favourite The Art Boat returns to the Brisbane River but with a fabulous difference. Curated by the world-class local collective Briefs Factory, the 2024 iteration embarks on a vivacious voyage of circus, burlesque and drama. Resident artists Fez Faanana, Mark Winmill and Brett Rosengreen will be joined by a dazzling array of special guests selected from Briefs’ fabulous friends and artists from across the festival.
