What would you do to help save the family property and realise your dreams?
Runt is the story of 11-year-old Annie Shearer (Lily LaTorre) and her best friend, an adopted stray dog, who work together to save the family farm at Upside Downs, a country town.
The dog, named Runt, has great speed and acrobatic skills ideal for herding sheep but Annie wants him to compete at the Agility Course Championships at the lucrative Krumpets Dog Show in London.
They must overcome a few obstacles, though. There's Fergus Fink (Matt Day), an unscrupulous dog handler; Earl Robert-Barren (Jack Thompson), a greedy landowner intent on taking over the Shearer property; and the fact that Runt will only obey Annie's commands when there's nobody watching.
Along the way to help are her mum and terrible baker Susie (Celeste Barber), dad Bryan (Jai Courtney) who harbours a secret passion, daredevil brother Max (Jack LaTorre), grandmother Dolly (Genevieve Lemon) and mysterious retired champion Bernadette Box (Deborah Mailman).
With all eyes on them, Annie and Runt try to beat the odds in this sincere and charming tale of kindness, friendship, tunnels, see-saws, slaloms, and, above all, living your truth.
Runt is in cinemas from September 19, 2024.
