WIN: We’re giving away 5 x double in season passes to see darkly funny film, Pillion.
It's been dubbed one of Alexander Skarsgård's best performances to date.
Traffic warden Colin lives a modest, tightly ordered life with his parents, Peggy and Pete, until Ray, the magnetic leader of a gay biker gang, takes him as his submissive. Drawn into a world of leather, ritual, and unspoken rules, Colin discovers intoxicating new feelings of desire and belonging. As surrender deepens into obsession, he is forced to confront how much of himself he can give away before there is nothing left.
After winning Best Screenplay in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section, alongside the Palm Dog for Mutt Moment and nominations for the Caméra d’Or and Queer Palm, writer-director Harry Lighton delivers one of the year’s boldest explorations of power and intimacy. Transgressive, darkly funny, and unexpectedly tender, Pillion has received universal acclaim, holding a 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with standout performances from Alexander Skarsgård (Succession, The Northman, Big Little Lies) and Harry Melling (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, The Pale Blue Eye, Harry Potter series).
Lesley Sharp (Scott & Bailey), Douglas Hodge (Joker) and Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears round out the cast.
Adapted from Adam Mars-Jones’ acclaimed 2020 novel Box Hill, the film relocates the story from the 1970s to present-day outer London. In his celebrated feature debut, Portsmouth-born filmmaker Harry Lighton demonstrates striking confidence and vision, informed by close research with members of the Gay Bikers Motorcycle Club, several of whom advised on and appeared in the film.
To celebrate the films upcoming release on Thursday 19 February, we’re giving away 5 x double in season passes to Forte Magazine readers to see Pillion in cinemas.
