My North Shore photo competition





WHAT does the North Shore mean to you? Can you capture it in a single image?

The North Shore Times is running a photographic competition, as part of its 50-year celebrations, in which you can submit photographs in two categories: our community spirit and iconic North Shore.

Titled My North Shore, the contest is being run in conjunction with Harvey Norman Chatswood Chase, which is providing two Sony Alpha A350 cameras valued at $1249 each as major prizes for each category.

The competition will close at 5pm on Thursday, September 30, which gives you plenty of time to snap away.

Each week we will publish the best photo of the week in the North Shore Times.

Weekly winners will receive 50 free digital photo prints from Harvey Norman Chatswood Chase and all entries will be considered for the major prizes. Photos will also be published on this website.

You may enter as many times as you like. So, grab your camera and capture what you think is the essence of our area, whether it be our beaches, parks, buildings or people.

Entries must be digital images (about 200dpi) and you can lodge your entries online at northshore times.com.au or email editor@northshoretimes.com.au

Include your name, address and daytime contact phone number and a brief description of where the photo was taken and/or who is in the photo.

The images will become the property of the North Shore Times and can be printed in the newspaper.

Terms & Conditions

1. Information on how to enter form part of these conditions. Entry into the competition constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.

2. Entry is only open to NSW residents. Employees (and their immediate families) of the promoter, and its agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter the promotion. Entrants must be over 18 years of age at the time of the draw of the competition.

3. The period for entry into the promotion starts at 9am Fridayday, August 20, 2010 and closes 5pm on Thursday, September 30, 2010.

4. To enter, log on to your participating local Cumberland Courier Newspaper website, follow the prompts and enter your valid name, address, email address and daytime phone number. Multiple entries from one person will be accepted.

5. Prize is one of two Sony Alpha A350 cameras valued at $1249 each.

6. The competition will be judged after the said closing date, with weekly winners to receive 50 free digital photo prints from Harvey Norman Chatswood Chase and all entries will be considered for the major prizes. Photos will also be published on this website.

7. This is a promotion based on skill, with two winners picked based on the photographs of the North Shore area of northern Sydney that they supply. Winner will be notified by phone. If the winner does not answer their phone 24 hours from the competition closing, the promoter will move on to the next best candidate to ensure all prizes can be taken up for the dedicated promotion. The judge’s decision is final.

8. All competitions are conducted at 142-154 Macquarie St, Parramatta, NSW 2150.

9. The total prize pool for this promotion is minimum $2498 AUD only.

10. Any additional expense incurred as a result of winning this prize is the responsibility of the winner.

11. Prize is non-transferable, non-refundable, non-exchangeable, non-replaceable and non-redeemable for cash. Prize to be claimed for the nominated show/venue only.  Prize valid for specified show only.

12. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not responsible or liable for:
a. inaccurate / incorrect transcription of entry information; b. purported entries that are not received for any reason, including because they are lost, misdirected or stolen, or that are received, but are late, illegible, incomplete, sent with insufficient postage (where entry is by post), or sent other than as directed in the entry instructions; c. any problems or technical failures of any kind, including malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems or network, servers or providers, computer equipment, or software; d. the unavailability or inaccessibility of any service whether or not caused by traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website; e. unauthorised human intervention in any part of the competition; f. electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the competition; g. any loss suffered or sustained, to person or property and including, but not limited to, consequential (including economic) loss by reason of any act or omission, deliberate or negligent, by the Promoter, or its servants or agents, in connection with the arrangement for supply, or the supply, of any goods or services by any person to a prize winner and, where applicable, to any family/persons accompanying a winner; or h. any injury or damage to persons or property, including to the participant¹s or any other person¹s computer related to, or resulting from, participation or downloading any materials in this competition.

13. If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition. The promoter assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or entry to be received by the promoter on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this competition.

14. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
