PAUL TEMPLE COLLECTION 1 DVD GIVEAWAY

Madman Entertainment / Region 4 / Released August 11, 2010

Having been created by the legendary Francis Durbridge in the 1930's for a hugely popular radio series Paul Temple is your archetypal crime writer turned detective, he found his way onto TV in the late sixties and early seventies for an equally popular BBC series. Madman are this month releasing a three disc set featuring some of the best surviving episodes and to celebrate we have five copies to give away!

Played with great style by Francis Matthews the series sees Paul and his hip wife Steve more often than not travelling across Europe on research trips for one of Paul's books and always managing to find themselves caught up in crime solving. It's a classic format of course and here is made with glossy aplomb. The show always attracted well known faces in the guest cast and here there are roles for the likes of George Baker, George Sewell, Peter Barkworth, Glyn Owen, Philip Madoc and Donald Houston to name just a few.

The BBC's well known junking policy of the late sixties and early seventies means many of their classic shows no longer exist, Paul Temple was hit hard too as many episodes were wiped so that their video tape could be used again. One fabulous aspect of this set is that it includes two previously lost black and white episodes that were returned to the BBC from a New Zealand TV station!

Lovers of high quality cerebral detection will find much to enjoy here, extras are good too and include an interview with Francis Matthews who also supplies an audio commentary for the episode Games People Play as well as audio intros to each episode. There is also an indepth collectors booklet and extensive photo galleries. Our competition runs until September 15, 2010. To be in with a chance to win one of the dvds all you have to do is tell us what year the first Paul Temple radio serial was broadcast? Also don't forget about our rather splendid daily newsletter. If you haven't signed up for this yet then what are you waiting for, a daily hit of all the latest stories, comps, reviews, features and news happening in the world of Memorable TV.

Entries must be sent to competition@memorabletv.com and must be titled "Paul Temple". Good Luck!

1938

http://www.thrillingdetective.com/temple.html

One of the most popular private detectives of all time, once upon a time, PAUL TEMPLE was a popular British private detective who made his first appearance in a BBC radio serial in 1938 and went on to appear in novels, film, television and even a daily comic strip. And on the radio itself for a whopping thirty-year run, originally broadcast on the BBC Light Programme and around the world with the result that Paul Temple, even now, has fan fans all over the world.
