Fashion Fest CompetitionWhen Jacinta Richmond founded the Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival in 2008, her intention was simple - to create a stunning showcase of the best fashion on the Coast and beyond. Three years on she's achieved her aim and this year's event, again sponsored by the weekender, promises to be the best yet.
While the event's growing prestige has drawn interstate labels such as Mina & Katusha from Melbourne (see page 20) and Sydney's Escape to Paradise, the focus remains on showcasing local talent, such as My Favourite by Bree Evans, whose creations include the gorgeous Flutter Sleeve silk ombre dress, pictured.
They will be joined by a brace of labels making their debut including Goetz, Linda India, Pink Sherbert, San Nizet, B By Birikini and Eva Lilly. Other Coast labels taking part include Ashlee Jay, Birikini, Blossom Betty, F.rock Fashion, Hive, Rubyanna Couture and Sinerji. Check them all out on the SCFF website.
In a program that stretches from September 6-11, festival events include Frocks in the Vines with Launch My Label at Maleny Mountain Winery on September 7, a Stilettos After Dark workshop with Princess Chic at Quay West Noosa on September 9, the group shows at Quay West on September 10 and the APEX Australia Teenage Fashion Awards at Quay West on September 11.
