The Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award, developed by Manningham City Council, was established in 2009 to support Victorian ceramic artists and acknowledge the special place that ceramics has in Manningham and the region’s history.
This biennial award exhibition will survey current Victorian ceramic art practice, and also showcase ceramic artists from Manningham and the other Valley of the Arts partners – Maroondah, Nillumbik, and Banyule.

To finalise your submission you will be required to pay $30.00 per entry. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or credit card. Your submission will not be valid, until full payment has been received.
The acquisitions will assist in the development of Manningham City Council’s collection of Victorian ceramic art.

1.The Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award is an acquisitive art award and exhibition.
2.This is a Victorian-wide exhibition and competition. All artists must be living in Victoria. Only artists working or living in Manningham, Maroondah, Nillumbik and Banyule are eligible for the Manningham Valley of the Arts Merit Acquisitive Award. Entrants must stipulate that they are eligible for the Manningham Valley of the Arts Merit Acquisitive Award.
3.All styles of work are acceptable for entry providing the work is predominantly made from ceramics which has been produced by the artist. An artist/s may submit up to 3 works.
4.Artists are required to submit a maximum of 3 jpeg image files per work submitted no greater than 500kb and 800 – 1000 pixels. The image must be of the actual work entered. The artist’s name and the title of the work must appear as the image title file name.
5.The images, entry form and C.V. must be received by Manningham Gallery by Wednesday 1 December 2010.
6.All images and curriculum vitae’s will be retained by the gallery for archival records.
7.Entrants will be notified of the judge’s selection by Monday 10 January 2011
8.The entry form details, images and CV must be received by Manningham Gallery via the online application only.
9.All artists, regardless of whether they are from Manningham, Maroondah, Nillumbik and Banyule, are eligible for the Victorian 1st Prize Acquisitive Award.
10.Measurements of three-dimensional pieces should not exceed 2 metres in height or 1 cubic metre in volume. Two-dimensional works should not exceed 2 metres in any given direction.
11.All works selected must be ready for installation with detailed instructions. If hanging, d-rings or screw eyes should be attached and must be clearly marked on the base or back with artist’s name and title of work.
12.Manningham Gallery, as the administrator of the award, reserves the right to reject an entry if it is considered not to meet the afore-stated criteria for entry
13.Manningham Gallery is located in Doncaster, Melbourne, Victoria. The Gallery is a service of Manningham City Council. Competition winners will be announced on 30 March 2011, the exhibition will remain open until 16 April 2011.
14.The judge/s will be a renowned ceramist, curator and/or ceramic professional whose name/s will be made public after the finalists are chosen.
15.The judge/s will select the exhibition from the images of the artworks provided by the entrants. The Awards will be chosen from the selected works sent to the Manningham Gallery.
16.One outstanding entry will win the main Victorian 1st Prize Acquisitive Award of AUD$5,000. Other Merit Awards up to the total of AUD $4,000 will be selected from artists living or working in Manningham, Nillumbik, Maroondah or Banyule. All award-winning ceramic artworks will become part of the public art collection of the City of Manningham.
17.The judge/s reserve the right not to select a winner or any work for acquisition, or not allocate the full acquisition budget if works are not, in his/her opinion, of sufficient merit.
18.The judge/s will determine Award recipients. This person/s will be a prominent curator or ceramic professional.
19.The judge/s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding any decision made by the judge/s.
20.All exhibited works must be for sale and a 22% commission including GST will be charged by the Gallery on works sold.
21.Entrants who receive Merit Awards and Special Acquisitions by Manningham City Council will be paid the stated sale price of their work less the commission charged by Manningham Gallery.
22.Short-listed works must arrive at Manningham Gallery no later than Monday 21 March 2011, and must be addressed to: 2011 Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award, Manningham Gallery, 699 Doncaster Road, Doncaster. Victoria 3108. Packaging must be clearly labelled with the entrant’s name.
23.Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances.
24.The Manningham Gallery has the right to withdraw from the exhibition any work if it is considered to be significantly different from the work illustrated in the submitted jpeg image and if it is of a quality considered unsuitable for a statewide competition and exhibition.
25.All entries must be the original work of the entrant and executed within the last 12 months prior to the date of entry.]
26.Joint entries are permitted but all parties must be acknowledged on the entry submission. They will then be catalogued accordingly.
27.Freight to and from the Manningham Gallery and transit insurance is the responsibility of the artist. Manningham Gallery accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage that occurs to the work during transit. The Manningham Gallery will insure all works whilst on exhibition at Manningham Gallery.
28.Work which arrives in a damaged condition is restored at the artist’s expense and only with the permission of the artist. Restoration is undertaken at the discretion of the organizers taking into account the degree of damage and time constraints. Restoration may however invalidate the work from being for sale or acquisition but not from exhibiting.
29.The Manningham Gallery reserves the right to dispose of any uncollected work as it sees fit after six months from the close of the exhibition.
30.By completing the entry form and making the work available the entrant warrants that the work is the sole and unencumbered property of the entrant and that there is no inhibitions or restrictions upon the title passing to Manningham Gallery in the event the work is a prize winner or chosen as an acquisition.
31.To comply with Australian Taxation Law, Australian resident’s ABN must be quoted or, if a hobbyist, an exemption form must be completed by the entrant.
32.The Manningham Gallery reserves the right to reproduce any works for archival, catalogue or publicity purposes.
33.The submission of the electronic entry form is evidence of the entrant’s consent.
34. All personal information gathered by the Manningham Gallery will be used solely for the purpose of administrating the Manningham Victorian Ceramic Art Award.
