Title: TOYOTA STAR MAKER 2011
Organisation: Tamworth Country Music Festival

City/Town: Tamworth

State: NSW

Country: AUSTRALIA

Details: The search is on for a new country music star with next year’s Toyota Star Maker – Australia’s most prized country music crown – to expose the 32nd winner to be decided at the Grand Final on Sunday, January 16, 2011.

The annual star search, the nation’s most significant, most successful and influential new talent event in country music, has been responsible for giving the nation many of today’s major country stars.

Traditionally a major event held on the first weekend of the giant Tamworth Country Music Festival, the star-making power of Australia’s most prestigious country music talent search becomes clear when the event celebrates winning names such as Keith Urban, Lee Kernaghan, Beccy Cole, Gina Jeffreys, James Blundell and Darren Coggan through to the young crop of new stars in Kylie Sackley, Samantha McClymont (of The McClymonts), Travis Collins and the reigning title holder Luke Austen.

So how does it all happen? Each year, Toyota Star Maker invites aspiring country music stars to compete for a range of opportunities that will provide a substantial career boost for the winner.

Toyota Star Maker is an annual search for an individual star who has the greatest potential to take advantage of the opportunities offered in the Toyota Star Maker prize package valued at more than $150,000 including a full album record deal.

The message is: "If you are ready to take the next big step, enter and you could join previous winners of Toyota Star Maker on the ride of your life." Entry is free.

As well as the album deal and a big budget recording session with Australia’s top musicians and producers, the Toyota Star Maker 2011 prize package includes 12 months use of a brand new fully serviced Toyota motor vehicle, a fuel card for the year after winning Toyota Star Maker, 50 copies of the prize album for personal distribution, distribution and promotion of at least two tracks to radio and other media, production of a professional video clip of one of the tracks by an award winning director, a Maton acoustic guitar, Fender products, monthly exposure in Australia’s only monthly country music magazine Country Music Capital News, media exposure in the Directory of Australian Country Music, full colour posters, photographic portfolio with Image Design Photography, an album launch at the National Music Muster at Gympie Qld, guaranteed performance bookings at a designated list of events, including country music festivals at Tamworth, Gympie, the Urban CM Festival at Caboolture, Mud Balls & Music, return air tickets to Nashville for the CMA Festival in June 2011 courtesy of Travelworld Tamworth and a special showcase performance at the Toyota Star Maker Grand Final in 2012.

Current winner Luke Austen is reaping the rewards offered by winning Toyota Star Maker and grabbing it with both hands and running. He has enjoyed writing with major artists including his former employer Troy Cassar-Daley as well as Adam Harvey and Shane Nicholson. He recorded his debut album as part of his prize with producer Graham Thompson of Compass Brothers Records and has been touring throughout the year.

An addition to the prize this year, unbeknown to Luke at the time of his win, was the return flight to Nashville in June where he had a guest performance on the Global Artist Party joining artists from around the world to showcase his talents in front of industry experts.

“Artists seriously looking for a professional long term career in country music are invited to apply,” say the organisers, Rural Press Events, publishers of Country Music Capital News.
