TOWNSVILLE BULLETIN
TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR WE’LL PAY YOUR BILLS COMPETITION
By entering the We’ll Pay Your Bills Competition you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions. The North Queensland Newspaper Company Pty Ltd reserves the right, with or without cause, to exclude entrants and withhold prizes for violating any of these terms and conditions. The North Queensland Newspaper Company Pty Ltd reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Any amendments to the terms and conditions will be published in the Townsville Bulletin.
For the purposes of these terms and conditions, the Promoter is The North Queensland Newspaper Company Pty Ltd, 198 Ogden Street Townsville QLD 4810. ABN:64 009 655 690.
1. WHO CAN ENTER
(a) This competition is open only to:
(i) residents of Queensland due to the fact that the prize provider is unable to provide the prize outside of that geographical area;
(ii) persons aged 18 years or older; and
Proof of age and residency (eg. drivers licence) must be shown upon request.
(b) Employees, contractors and authorised agents of North Queensland Newspaper Company Pty Ltd and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.
Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or adopted), parent, step-parent, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister.
2. HOW TO ENTER
(a) Collect all 5 coupons appearing Monday – Friday in the Townsville Bulletin (commencing Monday, December 27, 2010 – Friday January 21, 2011) and paste onto an entry form from the Townsville Bulletin (commencing Sunday December 26, 2010 – Saturday January 15, 2011). Post to We’ll Pay Your Bills Competition, c/o- Townsville Bulletin, PO Box 2030, Townsville, QLD 4810 or deliver to 198-244 Ogden Street, Townsville.
(b) The competition commences at 4 am on Sunday December 26, 2010 and closes at 10.00am on Thursday, January 27, 2011.
(c) Entries that are illegible, received after the closing time or do not fulfil all the conditions of entry will not be accepted.
(d) Only original entry forms and coupons will be accepted, no photocopies.
(e) Only entries containing all five (5) coupons and entry form will be accepted.
(f) Ownership (including intellectual property rights) in all entries (whether in written, audio or visual form, or a combination of those) is assigned to the Promoter upon submission of the entry and remains the property of the Promoter (subject to any limits contained in the Promoter’s Privacy Policy).
3. HOW TO WIN
(a) The major prize winner will be drawn at 10.15am on Thursday, January 27, 2011.
(b) The winner will be announced in the Townsville Bulletin published on Friday, January 28, 2011. The winner will also be notified by telephone within 7 days after the draw.
All reasonable endeavours will be made to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted within 7 days after the draw, the Promoter reserves the right to re-draw a winner from the entries which were received before the closing date for the competition.
(c) The $2000 weekly prize winners will be drawn at the following dates and time:
Week 1 prize winner: 10.15am Friday, January 7, 2011.
Week 2 prize winner: 10.15am Friday, January 14, 2011.
Week 3 prize winner: 10.15am Friday, January 21, 2011.
(d) The weekly prize winners will be announced online at
www.townsvillebulletin.com.au/competitions at 12noon each Friday (on the afore mentioned dates). The winner will also be notified by telephone within 7 days after the draw.
All reasonable endeavours will be made to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted within 7 days after the draw, the Promoter reserves the right to re-draw a winner from the entries which were received before the closing date for the competition.
(e) The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
(f) Entries must be in the name of one (1) person only.
(g) Only one (1) entry to be included per envelope.
4. PRIZE
(a) The major prize winner of the competition will receive the following prize:
$10,000 cash (paid via direct debit or cheque)
(b) The weekly prize winners of the competition will each receive the following prize:
A $2,000 VISA Debit Card from Queenslanders Credit Union
(c) In order to claim the prize the winner must be able to provide sufficient, valid identification and supply personal details, as required by Queenslanders Credit Union.
(d) The prize will be forfeited if the winner does not redeem or take the prize at the time and place stipulated by the Promoter.
(e) In the event that any prize item is unavailable, the Promoter may, but is not required to, provide a substitute prize item of equal or greater value at the publishing date.
(f) Any taxes (other than GST, if any) or fees which may be payable as a consequence of a winner receiving the prize, or any element of the prize, are the sole responsibility of the winner.
(g) The prize is non-transferrable and the winner agrees not to sell or lease the prize, because profiteering from the prize, in part or full, is a breach of supply and action will be taken if misused.
(h) The winner consents to the use of his or her name, photograph and entry for promotional purposes.
5. NO LIABILITY
(a) In the case of the intervention of an outside act, agent or event which prevents or hinders the Promoter’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, the Promoter may, in its absolute discretion, cancel the competition and, if appropriate, recommence it from the start on the same conditions.
(b) The Promoter does not exclude any rights and remedies in respect of goods or services under the Trade Practices Act 1975 (Cth) or equivalent State or Territory legislation which cannot be excluded, restricted or modified. However, the Promoter excludes all rights, remedies, conditions and warranties in respect of goods or services associated with entrants’ entry into this competition or the winner’s enjoyment of the prize whether based in statute, common law or otherwise to the fullest extent permitted by law.
(c) The Promoter is not responsible for prizes damaged or lost in transit, or late, lost or misdirected mail, except where the damage or loss is caused solely as a result of the fault of the Promoter.
(d) To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Promoter is not liable for, and all entrants release the Promoter from any liability arising out of or in connection with, any loss, damage, injury, action or claim (including consequential loss) suffered or incurred by entrants and the winner which arises out of or in connection with:
(i) the competition draw;
(ii) any travel connected with the prize or entry into the competition;
(iii) participation in the prize or any element of the prize; or
(iv) the publication or broadcast of any material or statement by the Promoter, any employee, contractor or agent of the Promoter or any other person.
6. PRIVACY
(a) By entering this competition, you agree that your details provided to the Promoter will be used by the Promoter and its related companies in accordance with its Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy relates to the collection and use of personal information you may supply to the Promoter through your participation in the competition.
The Promoter reserves the right, at its discretion, to modify or remove portions of its Privacy Policy at any time.
The North Queensland Newspaper Company Pty Ltd (NQN) collects your personal information to assist us in providing the goods or services you have requested, to process your competition entries, and to improve our products and services. We or any of our Australian related companies may be in touch by any means (including email or SMS) to let you know about goods, services, or promotions which may be of interest to you. We may also share your information with other persons or entities who assist us in providing our services, running competitions or with other companies who provide prizes for competitions or reader offers.
