Dolly/STS Student Exchange Programs Comp February issue

1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions of entry.

Entry into this promotion is deemed to be acceptance of these terms and conditions of entry.

2. The promotion is open to Australian residents who are between the age of 15 and 18 years and under, and have parental or guardian consent to enter the competition.
Employees of the Promoters,their immediate families and agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter. Only one entry per person will be permitted.

4. The promotional period commences January 12, 2011 and closes 11:59pm (AEST) on 8 February, 2011. This is a game of skill. Chance plays no part in determining the winner.

5. Participants may enter the promotion as follows:
Visit  www.dolly.com.au/win and follow the prompts to the comp page on the DOLLY website. Then complete your personal contact details as requested (including but not limited to name, address, age, email address, daytime telephone number). Readers must tell us in 200 words or less, why they want to go on exchange to Austria submit your completed entry as instructed.


There are two stages to the judging in this promotion. The first stage involves the judges selecting the 11 best entries (as determined by the judges). These 11 entrants will be deemed Finalists . In the second stage of the judging, the 11 Finalists will then undergo an interview selection process This process will be conducted by a judging panel appointed by the Promoter. The best entrant out of the 11 Finalists (as determined by the judges) will be deemed to be the Winner., to which STS Student Exchange will determine the final winner.


6. Entries will be individually judged, based on literary and creative merit and originality. The promotion will be judged by a panel of judges appointed by the Promoter. The winners will be notified by phone and mail using contact details provided in their entry. The judging of entries will take place at the Promoter’s premises and will begin on February 10, 2011.

7. The best entry as determined by the judges will be deemed the major prize winner and will receive a 3 x month exchange program to Austria. The winner’s will be notified in writing and by telephone using the contact details in the entry.
The prize includes:
-   return economy flights for one (1) person from the winner’s nearest capital city in Australia to Austria (either Vienna, Salzburg or Graz airport depending on Winner’s program placement). Winners program placement will be determined by the Promoter in its complete discretion
-   Return airport transfers in Austria
-   placement with a volunteer host family (room and board) and tuition in a local high school
-   Full comprehensive medical & travel insurance
-   Paid for application fee
-   1 x copy of the Lonely Planet Austria book, valued at $39.99
-   Total value of prize valued at up to  $8,284.99 (depending on point of departure.
The remaining 10 finalists will be deemed Runners-up and will each receive 1 x copy of the Lonely Planet Austria book, valued at $39.99 each. Total value: $399.00

Total prize pool: $8,683.99

Prizes do not include any ancillary costs associated with redeeming the prize. These are the responsibility of the winner. Where a prize, or an element of a prize, is unavailable for any reason, STS Student Exchange Programs may substitute for that prize another item of equal or higher value as determined by STS Student Exchange Programs. Date of prize pack delivery will be determined by the Promoter and/or STS Student Exchange Programs. Prize pack will be sent to address supplied at time of entry. Redemption of prize subject to the standard business guidelines of the STS Student Exchange Program.
9. The prize must be redeemed either in August (late August) or November (mid November) 2011. The dates of the exchange programme are subject to availability and will be advised at the Promoter’s complete discretion.
It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner’s parent/legal guardian and the winner (if required) sign all legal documentation provided to them by STS Student Exchange program. Form of documentation provided will be determined at the complete discretion of the Promoter.


10. Personal expenses not covered in the prize include pocket money, excess luggage, additional meals and beverages while travelling, transportation to and from school, school lunches, language tuition, school uniform, club fees, toiletries, clothing, telephone calls, excursions and other travelling or other ancillary costs associated with redeeming the prize other than those specified. These costs and expenses are the responsibility of the winner. Prize also excludes visas, passports items of a personal nature, beverages, optional tours not outlined, airport and port taxes, government taxes or levies (which must be paid at the time of booking), laundry, telephone calls, additional nights, room upgrades or other ancillary costs associated with redeeming the prize other than those specified. These costs and expenses are the responsibility of the winner. There are no extensions to the duration of the prize, as VISA limits do not exceed the 3 month period.

10. Prize must be taken as offered. The prize, or any unused portion of the prize, is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed as cash. The prize cannot be used in conjunction with any other special offer. The prize is valued in Australian dollars. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the prize value. Prize winner is advised that tax implications may arise from their prize winnings and they should seek independent financial advice prior to acceptance of their prize.  In the event that a portion of the prize is awarded to the winner in the form of a voucher / ticket / pass/ letter, redemption of that portion of the prize will be subject to the terms and conditions stipulated on the voucher / ticket / pass/ letter. The Promoter will not be liable for any voucher / ticket / pass/ letter that has been lost, stolen, forged, damaged or tampered with in any way.

11. Entries not completed in accordance with the rules and conditions or received after the closing date will not be considered. Indecipherable or incomplete entries will be deemed invalid. The judges’ decision in relation to any aspect of the competition is final and binding on every person who enters. No correspondence will be entered into.

12. Prize valued in Australian dollars. Prize values are the recommended retail value as provided by the supplier and are correct at time they went online. The Promoter and STS Student Exchange Programs accept no responsibility for any variation in the value of any element of the prize. Prizes, or any unused portion of an element of a prize, are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.

13. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law, the Promoter, STS Student Exchange Programs and their officers, employees, agents and associated companies exclude all liability (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) for any expense, damage, personal injury or death; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity) whether, without limitation, direct, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits, arising in any way out of the promotion (or accepting or using any prize), including, but not limited to, where arising out of the following: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these conditions of entry; (e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant; (f) redemption of a prize and/or (g) participation in the promotion.

14. In the event of war, terrorism, state of emergency or disaster, the Promoter reserves the right (subject to reference to all relevant state and territory regulations) to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion.

15. If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition. The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of entries. By entering the promotion, the entrant consents to receipt of any email regarding the promotion, from the Promoter and other emails which inform the entrant of the Promoter’s other publications, products, services and events and to promote third party goods and services it may be interested in.

16. All entries become the property of the Promoter. The collection, use and disclosure of personal information provided in connection with this competition is governed by the ACP and STS Student Exchange Privacy Notices (see the contents page of the latest issue of Dolly magazine for location of the ACP Privacy Notice and www.sts-education.com.au for the location of the STS Education Privacy Notice). All entries submitted become the property of the Promoter. Entries will not be returned to any entrant. By entering this promotion, each entrant warrants to the Promoter that each entry submitted is an original artistic work of the entrant which does not infringe the rights of any third party. The entrant agrees to indemnify the Promoter against all claims and costs by third parties arising from a breach of the warranty set out in this condition. The Promoter is entitled to use any of the entries submitted for any purposes at its discretion, including (but not limited to) for any future promotion, marketing and publicity purposes. By entering, entrants consent to STS Student Exchange Programs making copies of or publishing the whole or any part of their “200 words” statement for any purpose.
