Passion for Perth Photographic Competition
The Committee for Perth has a vision of a future Perth that is vibrant, innovative, dynamic and inclusive and that capitalises on the advantages given to us by our natural landscape and abundant resources.  We are working to ensure that Perth and its surrounding metropolitan area will be the first choice city for business people, students, artists and families from all over Australia and the world.

We are commissioning an annual photographic competition that will demonstrate the quintessential lifestyle attributes in Perth.   Photographs entered can depict people, landscapes, recreational or commercial activities but need to reflect an iconic West Australian lifestyle activity or scene from across the metropolitan area.  Elements to be captured could include:

·       Innovation

·       Entrepreneurship

·       Natural attributes and clean skies

·       Opportunity

·       Sense of community

·       Educational Strength

·       Unique location

·       Active lifestyle

·       Creative practice or artistic endeavour

·       Rich cultural demography

·       Infrastructure

The competition is open throughout 2011 to any residents of Perth.   All shots must have been taken after 1 January 2011 and be submitted before the competition closes on Friday 18 November.

Finalists will be selected and displayed and the winner announced at the Committee for Perth End of Year Event - date to be confirmed.  There will be a cash prize of $1500 for the overall winner and another prize of $500 applying to young photographers under the age of 21.

Passion for Perth photographic exhibition terms and conditions
General:
•The exhibition is promoted by The Committee for Perth and is open to their members and stakeholders as well as members of Perth Centre for Photography.
•The competition is free to enter.
•Submission of entry is evidence of the photographer's consent to these terms and conditions.
•The Photographic Competition opens on 1 January 2011 and closes on 18 November 2011.
•A cash prize of $1500 will be awarded to the overall winner and $500 to the best photograph submitted by a young photographer (under 21).
•Competition results will be announced at the Committee for Perth End of Year event - date to be confirmed and published in the first Committee for Perth e-newsletter for 2012.
•Selected images will be displayed at the Committee for Perth End of Year celebration on Tuesday 7 December and all entries will be featured in the first e-newsletter for 2011.
•Images submitted as part of the competition will form a beautiful collection that will be used by the Committee for Perth in a range of publications.
•The author of the image(s) retains the copyright ownership; however, by entering the competition, all entrants agree to allow their images to be published in the proposed exhibition and any subsequent Committee for Perth publications, in print, broadcast or online for Committee for Perth marketing, research and media purposes for a period of up to five years.
•All entrants whose work is published agree to allow their images to be exhibited on a public website promoting the competition. Images used on the competition website will be low-resolution.
•All images used in the exhibition, on the website or in subsequent Committee for Perth marketing material will be marked with the copyright symbol and the photographer's name as given on the entry form.
•The Committee for Perth reserves the right to use the images in other areas and publications.  Photographers will not be contacted every time a photo is reproduced but will be acknowledged by name.

•The Judging committee is comprised of 5 judges. Information on the judging panel will be available on www.committeeforperth.com.au prior to closing deadline for submissions.
•The winning photographs will be considered by the judges to best represent an aspect of Perth’s lifestyle. Consideration will also be given to clarity of detail, interesting behaviour, aesthetics and composition and names of photographers will not be revealed to the judges.
•The judges decisions are final and binding on every person who enters and no correspondence will be entered into.
Submissions:
•All entries must be submitted with entry details as described herein.
•Images can only be submitted on disk or USB key by mail to the Committee for Perth, PO Box 7117, Cloisters Square, Perth WA 6850.  Any entries received after 18 November will not be eligible for judging.
•An entry form with entrant's contact details and image details must be completed and submitted with your images.
•Images must be submitted in digital format.  Prints and slides are not acceptable, though negatives, prints and slides can be digitized (scanned) and entered.

•Entry identification - the file must be named the same as your family name, followed by your given name, then an underscore, followed by the entry number [1-5]. Do not use spaces or any other punctuation e.g. if Joe Bloggs was naming his second entry, it would read BloggsJoe_2.jpg

•Images presented for judging must be 100% photographic in origin. Composite images are not accepted. Images may not be digitally enhanced other than cropped or resized to suit required format. All aspects of the image must have been produced by the entrant (including all post production work).
•Each entrant may submit up to five images.
•Entries must not have been published, exhibited or have won a public competition previously.
•No date or time, titles or marks which may identify the author are permitted on the image itself.
•The Promoter's decision in relation to any aspects of the competition is final and binding on every person who enters and no correspondence will be entered into.
•Images will not be returned.
