A 172-page book of photographs of hand painted signage compiled by Butter Beats head honcho Jason Dax Woodward and German designer Jennifer Theis, ‘Opening Sale’ is a unique look at the cultural history and art of local green grocers, religious zealots, graffiti artists, signwriters and folk artists. From Sarina to Southport, Pinkenba to Port Douglas, ‘Opening Sale’ is a look at quirky signs from a time when shop owners took pride in doing it for themselves. To win, email your name, contact number and answer to comps@scenemagazine.com.au with ‘Opening Sale’ in the subject header.
