World Kids Colouring Day – 6 May, 2011
To be in the draw to win one of the 10 great $50 STAEDTLER prize packs in the motherInc competition, scroll down to enter your details below.
For the fourth consecutive year, writing instrument company STAEDTLER and Save the Children have joined forces globally in support of World Kids Colouring Day. Children are again invited to participate in this colouring campaign and, at the same time, raise money to help disadvantaged children in Australia.

The colouring theme for World Kids Colouring Day 2011 is 'Our Earth – Our Universe.' This theme provides an opportunity for the smallest human inhabitants of our Earth to show us what their perfect world would look like and create their own 'future planets'.

As the world's largest independent child rights organisation, Save the Children works in over 100 countries, including Australia. Despite our high standard of living, almost 12% of Australian children fall below the poverty line and are consistently denied access to opportunities that enable them to reach their potential. Funds collected from STAEDTLER's World Kids Colouring Day will support Save the Children in providing early childhood development, literacy, physical activity and nutrition programs to ensure every child in Australia has a safe and happy childhood.

STAEDTLER is calling upon all teachers, educators and parents to register now and organise their own colouring events at school, kindergarten and home in support of World Kids Colouring Day on May 6, 2011.

Getting started is simple, visit www.world-kids-colouring-day.com.au where you will find:

• Registration page for schools and organisations to receive their FREE World Kids Colouring Day supporter pack (including posters, information flyers and STAEDTLER coloured pencils).

• Support material including 'Our Earth - Our Universe' themed big wall mural puzzle, games, and colouring-in templates.

• Teaching resources to help prepare lessons about Astronomy, our Earth and our continents.

• General information (how to contribute and make donations), and ideas on how to participate in the program (e.g. art exhibition, colouring day at school...)

The universal language of pictures is understood the world over and unites children on all continents. Colouring is an important form of expression, especially for small children still discovering their world. World Kids Colouring Day needs the support of adults to help co-ordinate the fundraising events and to help children understand how their contribution can change the world of a child less fortunate.

STAEDTLER will recognise the highest donation nationally and the most creative activity nationally with a great STAEDTLER colouring set valued at $500.

Australian children with their parents and teachers are invited to participate in World Kids Colouring Day and raise money for their beautiful artwork, to help other Australian children in need. Join today by visiting: www.world-kids-colouring-day.com.au

Paul Cashmore, Managing Director of STAEDTLER (Pacific) Pty Ltd, "STAEDTLER Australia is committed to this annual event and it's contribution to a meaningful, positive change through the support of Save the Children. We want to emphasise how important colouring is for child development and make a difference to the security and stability of those children who need it most – those who do not have the chance for an adequate start to equip them for the future."

Suzanne Dvorak, CEO of Save the Children, Australia, explains: "In Australia, Save the Children works across four broad areas of Health, Education, Child Protection and Emergencies with a focus on those communities that are most vulnerable. For example, we run a 'Future Parents Program' to support young people with the parenting skills required to build strong families and give children the best possible start in life. Our youth engagement programs work with young people to develop life skills to cope with early adulthood, and encourage vocational development. For 2011, Save the Children will be developing both child-rights education throughout Australian schools and extending the reach of our mobile play schemes and child centres into more communities in every state."  Suzanne continues, "with your support via STAEDTLER's World Kids Colouring Day, you are helping thousands of kids in our own backyard have a safe and happy childhood."

Save the Children aims to ensure that all children, regardless of gender, race, country of origin or religious belief have the means for survival, receive protection and have access to nutrition, primary health care and basic education. Save the Children fights for children's rights to deliver immediate and lasting improvements to children's lives worldwide. For further information about the work of Save the Children visit: www.savethechildren.org.au.

As one of the leading international manufacturers of writing, colouring and drawing instruments, STAEDTLER applies sound environmental protection programmes as part of its 'efficient for ecology' ethic. STAEDTLER's philosophy as 'a brand with tradition shaping its future' describes both the origin and dedication of the company. Quality, innovation, design and functionality characterise all STAEDTLER products. STAEDTLER has also introduced the first coloured pencil with an integrated Anti-Break-System (ABS). The innovative white ABS coating reinforces the lead making STAEDTLER coloured leads up to 30% more break resistant (over non-ABS pencils.)

STAEDTLER is proud to be the initiator of World Kids Colouring Day held May 6th each year globally, to help more children in need. For further company and product information visit: www.staedtler.com.au.
