Welcome to the Focus on Frankston Photo Competition 2011


Focus on Frankston is back!
With a $7,000 prize pool, it's time to show us what you love about Frankston!

The Focus on Frankston Photography Competition is a City-wide promotion designed by Frankston City Council to encourage locals and visitors to show us what they love about the area and share their favourite memories of their time in Frankston.

Entries open Monday, 4 October and will remain open throughout the summer holiday and festival season until Friday, 18 March 2011.

This year, competition participants are invited to explore and discover the hidden gems of Frankston with two new categories: Events and Heart of Frankston. There are three major prizes to be won, a People's Choice Award and Judges Encouragement Award, with over $5,000 worth of prizes in the major competition.

Photo competitions will also run at four of the City's major events and over $2,000 of additional prizes to be won:

■Christmas Festival of Lights (27 November)
■Sand Sculpting Australia (26 December - 26 April)
■Waterfront Festival (15-16 January)
■Ventana Latina Fiesta (19 March)
So now is the time to start planning your events calendar for more chances to win.

The seven categories for this year are:

■The Water's Edge
■Out and About
■Heart of Frankston
■Parks, Playgrounds and Picnics
■Arts, Culture and Heritage
■Secret Spots
■Events
Entries will be judged by a panel, and a selection will be available to view online for visitors and residents to judge for the 'People's Choice Award'. The competition is open to people of all age groups and those with or without photography experience/training.
