Smarter Shopping CompetitionConditions of entry: APN Australian Regional Media’s Smarter Shopping promotion

1. Method of entry:  Entry into this competition is deemed acceptance by applicants of these terms and conditions.  To enter, applicants may:

(a)        Collect the published Smart Dollars that will be available in denominations of $20, $50 and $100 between March 3rd to April 14, 2011.Applicants must collect the published dollars that add up to either $200, $300, $500 or $1000 to be able to enter one of the shopping sprees. The smart dollars are available in the following publications.

Daily Mercury, The Morning Bulletin, The Observer, News-Mail, Fraser Coast Chronicle, The Gympie Times, Sunshine Coast Daily, The QT, The Chronicle, Warwick Daily News, Tweed Daily News, The Northern Star, The Daily Examiner or The Coffs Coast Advocate.

1.Collect a “$500 smart dollar bill from any one of the following websites. This $500 bill can be used in conjunction with the newspaper published smart dollars to enter either the $200, $300, $500 or $1000 shopping spree.

Smart dollars will be published and online from March 3 to April 14. Applications must collect the correct denomination of smart dollars to enter the four shopping sprees. Either $200, $300, $500 and $1000.

Applicants may enter as many times as they like and enter as many times in each of the four sprees as long as the smart dollars are original newsprint or from the website listed in 1a &b.

2. Prizes:  There are four separate shopping sprees to win per publication. The shopping sprees are either $1000, $500, $300, or $200. The total of all prizes to win is $2000 per masthead.

The prize allocation per publication is as follows:

Daily Mercury:

$1,000 - John Donnelly The Good Guys

$500 - Hatfields IGA

$300 - John Carroll Retravision

$200 - AM Bar & Bistro

All prizes are valued inclusive of GST.  Any taxes which may be payable as a consequence of a winner receiving the prize are the sole responsibility of that winner.

3. Competition duration:  The competition commences 3 March 2011. Deadline for entry is Tuesday April 19, 2011 at 10am (Closure Time). Applications received after the Closure Time will not be eligible.

4. Eligibility limitations:The following persons are ineligible to enter:

1.employees of, or contractors to, the Promoter;
2.the spouse, de facto spouse, parent, natural or adopted child, and sibling (whether natural or adopted by a parent) of such employees and contractors (whether or not they live in the same household);
3.applicants who have used or attempted to use any more than one name in order to qualify to win any contest run by the Promoter except in the case of a legal change of name;
4.applicants under the age of 18 years.
All Applicants acknowledge that even if the Promoter only learns of a person’s ineligibility after the Promoter has appeared to award the prize to the ineligible person, it may require the return of the prize or payment of its value to the Promoter to be dealt with as an unclaimed prize.

5. Draw and notification:  The winner of the four shopping sprees will be selected randomly at the publications office listed in 1 a on Tuesday April 19th at 10:30am. There is only one prize to win per applicant. Judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.  The winner’s name will be published in the public notices section of each newspaper and website on Thursday 21 April 2011. 

6. Exclusive Publication rights: All applicants acknowledge that the Promoter has the right to publicise and publish his / her name, character and likeness and editorial coverage of their background, business ideas and such other subjects as the Promoter deems relevant.  The winner must avail themselves for a photo and for interviews if required by the Promoter and acknowledge that the Promoter has the right to utilise publicity photos in any reasonable manner it sees fit without compensation to the Applicant. The winner acknowledges that the Promoter shall have exclusive rights of interview and access to the winner for the purposes of publication or broadcast, and the winner will not provide any information to any other publisher, broadcaster or any journalist not employed by any of the Newspapers, for a period of 12 months after the Promoter has awarded the prize.

7. Prize collection:  Upon request by the Promoter a copy of these terms and/or a signed receipt and acknowledgement must be signed and endorsed by any winner to indicate his/her understanding and acceptance of these terms and ID that includes a photograph must be presented.  All prizes when specified must be claimed within 90 days of notification.  It is the sole responsibility of the winner to claim their prize.  All prizes that remain unclaimed 90 days after notification has been sent to the winner will be redrawn by random draw in an unclaimed prize draw.

8. Suspension or Modification:If for any reason the competition is not capable of running as planned including (but not limited to) technical failures, unauthorised intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond the Promoter’s control which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter is entitled in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.

9. Misconduct by Applicants:The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the competition. The Promoter reserves its legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender.

10. Promoter's limitation of liability: The Promoter is not responsible for the loss of prizes due to incorrect or imprecise delivery or account details provided by a winner.  The Promoter also takes no responsibility for prizes lost or stolen after they have been released for delivery via EFT, postage or courier.

To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter makes no representations or warranties as to the quality, suitability or merchantability of any of the goods offered as prizes, and the Promoter is not liable for any loss suffered or sustained by any person, including but not limited to consequential (including economic) loss, by reason of any act or omission, deliberate or negligent, by the Promoters or their servants or agents, in connection with the competition.

11. Entries and privacy:

The Promoter collects your personal information to include you in this competition and will disclose the information to others who help us run the competition.  We may also use the information to assist us in improving our goods and services and to contact you in the future in regard to our other goods and services.  We may share your information with other persons or entities that assist us in performing the above or with another company which provides prizes for the competition.  If you do not wish to be contacted or your information shards please tick this box here and return this document with your entry.
