The History Channel’s fabulous series The Universe has it’s third series released on DVD this month and we have teamed up Magna Home Entertainment to give away five copies of the four disc set!
People in the know about all things Space Flight will tell you that the first 50 miles and the last 50 miles are the most dangerous, when you are leaving the Earth’s atmosphere and then re-entering it of course, a concept that is explored in the mind bending opening episode Deep Space Disasters. As the series begins we also take a look at the existence of higher dimensions and parrallel universes – many scientists and astronomers willingly agree that there is a myriad of different universes out there.
There is also time to examine travelling faster than the speed of light, the sheer mechanics of reproduction in space and one of the most intriguing episodes takes a look at some of the more esoteric aspects of space including dark matter and black holes. The Universe never talks down to its audience even when it is discussing some incredibly complex subjects. It uses a mix of images taken from deep space telescopes, brilliant CGI footage and interviews with some of the most knowledgable people in the space field.
