AUSTRALIA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEO SHOW – HOP COMPETITION (“COMPETITION”)
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY (“THE RULES”)

1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these Conditions of Entry. Entries not
completed in accordance with the Conditions of Entry or received after close of entry will
not be considered. Incomplete or inaudible entries will be disregarded.

2. The promotion is open to people who are residents of Australia Employees of the
Promoter, 5th Finger Pty Ltd and their immediate families, and all companies and
agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter. If the entrant is under the
age of 18 years, the entrant must have prior parental or legal guardian consent to enter.
If the winner is under the age of 18 years, the prize will be awarded on behalf of the
winner to the winner’s parent or legal guardian. This competition will be promoted on
Channel nines Australia’s Funniest Home Video Show from 5 March 2011 to 7 March
2011 (inclusive).

3. The promotion commences on Saturday, 5 March 2011 at 18:30 AEST/AEDST and
concludes on Monday, 7 March 2011 at 23:59 AEST/AEDST
. The draw will take place
at 5th Finger Pty Ltd, Australia Square, Level 7, 264 George Street, Sydney, NSW 2000
on Tuesday, 8 March 2011 at 10:00 AEST. The winners will be notified by mail using
contact details provided in their entry and their name will be published in the public
notices section of The Australian on Thursday, 17 March 2011.

4. There are two ways of entering the promotion:

a. 1-90 Call: Participants can enter the promotion by calling and registering their full
name, address and a daytime telephone number on 1902 555 150 Maximum 1-
90 entry cost per message is 55c including GST. Calls from mobiles and pay
phones may attract a higher rate. 190 service provider: 5th Finger Pty Ltd

b. SMS: Text their full name and address to 199 55 150 Maximum SMS entry cost
per message is 55c including GST. The SMS entry mechanic is only open to
consumers with a SMS compatible mobile phone connected to a service provider
which permits text messaging to the promotional SMS number. It is
recommended that entrants check with their individual service provider in this

5. Multiple competition entries are permitted, subject to the following: (a) only one entry
permitted per SMS message or 190 call; and (b) each entry must be submitted separately
and in accordance with the entry requirements

6. The promoter is neither responsible nor liable for late, lost, misdirected, incomplete or
inaudible entries.

7. The winners of the promotion will be determined by the first (1) valid entry randomly drawn
by the Promoter.

8. The first (1) valid entry drawn by the Promoter from all entries received will receive the
following prize;

9. The total of the entire prize package is valued at up to $20 050.00 depending on date and
point of departure. All prize values stated in Australian dollars.


10. Prize must be redeemed in full 17th March 2012. Prize is subject to availability and black
out periods do apply. Black out periods include February 18-21 2011, April 1- May 1
2011, May 27-30 2011, July 1-4 2011, September 2-5 2011, October 14-31 2011,
November 24-27 2011, December 16- January 1 2012.

11. If the winner is unable to redeem the prize during the time period, the winner will forfeit
the prize package with no compensation or further liability of the promoter. Cash will not
be awarded in lieu of the prize.

12. Prize must be booked within 60 days prior to departure.

13. Flights are for two (2) adults and two (2) children. Children must be under the age of 18
years to redeem the children component of the prize.

14. If the winner is under the age of 18 years, the prize will be awarded to the winner’s parent
or legal guardian on behalf of the winner. It is the responsibility of the winner’s
parent/legal guardian to prove their parental status/ legal guardianship at the time of
winner notification. In the event that for any reason whatsoever a person/s mistakenly
represents themselves to be a winners parent and/or legal guardian, then that person will
be liable for all costs associated with relocating and/or re-awarding the prize (including
but not limited to and administrative fees incurred by the Promoter). Where relevant., the
Promoter is only responsible for ensuring that the prize is awarded to a person who is
either a parent or legal guardian of the winner. The Promoter is not responsible for
determining any other delivery details or taking direction that relates to any ongoing
family law negotiations and/or determinations. These are the responsibility of the winner
and their respective parent/s and/or legal guardian/s.

15. Redeeming the prize is conditional on acceptance of the terms and conditions of travel by
the airline carriers in accordance with normal travel practices. No portion of the prize is
redeemable for cash.

16. The winners and their companions must be in possession of a valid passport with a
minimum of 6 months validity on it prior to departure. A valid passport and applicable
visas and online registration for the US immigration ESTA programme
(https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov) is required for all international journeys. All costs associated
with obtaining required travel documentation is the responsibility of the winner and their
travel companions.

17. Visas, valid passports, additional spending money, meals (other than those included),
drinks, transfers (unless specified), laundry charges, activities (unless specified),
incidentals, energy surcharges, excess baggage, gratuities, services charges and any
other ancillary costs, including but not limited to insurance and any applicable insurance
excesses, not listed in the travel prize package descriptions above are the responsibility
of the travel prize winners and their nominated travelling companions as incurred.

18. Unless expressly stated in these conditions of entry all other expenses (including travel to
and from the departure point) become the responsibility of the winner.

19. Travel restrictions may apply. Prize does not include travel insurance, which is required.
Travel insurance is highly recommended to protect against the additional costs incurred
in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

20. It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winners may be requested to present their
credit card upon arrival at any hotel to cover all incidentals they may incur including their
stay at that hotel.

21. The winner and their companion(s) must travel on the same dates, depart from and
return to the same point of departure and travel together. Frequent flyer points will not
form part of the prize. Standard conditions for tickets and accommodation apply.

22. If the prize or portion of the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, the Promoter
reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize of equal or greater value, subject to
State Regulation.

23. All prizes must be taken as offered. Prizes, and any unused portion of the prizes, are not
transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed as cash. The prize is not valid in
conjunction with any other offer. The prize is valued in Australian dollars. The Promoter
accepts no responsibility for any variation in the prize value. Prize winners are advised
that tax implications may arise from their prize winnings and they should seek
independent financial advice prior to acceptance of their prize. In the event that a potion
of the prize is awarded to the winner in the form of a voucher / ticket / pass, redemption
of that portion of the prize will be subject to the terms and conditions stipulated on the
voucher / ticket / pass. The Promoter will not be liable for any voucher / ticket / pass that
has been lost, stolen, forged, damaged or tampered with in any way.

24. By entering the promotion via SMS an entrant consents to the Promoter using their
personal details for the purposes of sending one (1) mobile terminated (MT) reply
message which includes a confirmation of your entry in the promotion and to be used to
contact the entrant if required for any reason in relation to their competition entry.

25. The Promoter makes no representation as to the safety, conditions or other issues that
may exist at any destination. International travel advice can be obtained from various
sources, including government, local consular offices and the web site of the Australian
Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and www.smartraveller.gov.au/.

26. It is a condition of accepting a prize that the winner agrees to be interviewed,
photographed and filmed at any time during the acceptance of the prize by the Promoter
or their agents for a story or feature on this promotion to be developed and featured on
the Nine Network (or any other form of media it deems suitable) without further
remuneration or reference to the participant. Details may feature on Nine Network on a
date to be determined by the Promoters. The inclusion of any such feature (including but
not limited to creative control of the feature) will remain with the Promoter at all times.

27. Participants must ensure that all care is taken when dialing or sending messages to the
promotional number. It is the complete responsibility of the participant to ensure that they
dial or SMS the correct number, in the event that an error occurs the Promoter accepts
no responsibility for either, costs incurred, responses received or all other consequences.
This is the responsibility of the participant.

28. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any SMS messages not received by the
Promoter or delays in the delivery of the SMS message due to technical disruptions or for
any other reason. An entry will only be counted as being received when it has been
received by the Promoter’s software system, not when it was sent from the handset.

29. If a medical circumstance in some way restricts your ability to enter the competition
through the required mechanic, you are still eligible to enter however you must briefly
state your circumstances upon entry.

30. If your entry is selected as a winning entry, validation of your circumstances/ the validity
of your entry will be undertaken by the Promoter. Method of validation (without limitation)
will be determined by the Promoter in its complete discretion. If the winning entry is
deemed to be a winner, the winner will be notified as per the terms and conditions herein.
In the event that the Promoter requests the winners and/or their companions to sign any
legal documents relating to the verification of their medical circumstance, the legal
documents will take the form determined by the Promoter. It is a condition of accepting
the prize the winners and/or their companions sign any such legal documentation.

31. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse to allow a winners and/or their companions to
take part in any or all aspects of the prize, if the Promoter determines, in their absolute
discretion, that winners and/or their companions are not in the mental or physical
condition necessary to be able to safely participate in the prize. It is a condition of
accepting the prize that the winners and/or their companions may be required to sign a
legal release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.

32. The Promoter reserves the right to verify, at any time during or after the closing of the
promotion, the validity of all entries and to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the
entry process, including techniques designed to avoid payment of call costs. SMS
entries via the internet are not valid and will not be accepted. The use of any automated
entry software or any other mechanical or electronic means that permits the participant to
automatically enter repeatedly are not valid and will not be accepted.

33. The Promoter may conduct such further draws at the same place as the original draw as
are necessary at 10am AEST on Monday, 13 June 2011 in order to distribute the prize if
it remains unclaimed by that date, subject however to all reference to any relevant state
and territory regulations. In the event of a winner in the unclaimed prize draw, the winner
will be notified in writing and their name will be published in The Australian on
Thursday, 16 June 2011.

34. The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either caused
by the phone user or for any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised
in this competition, or for any technical error, or any combination thereof that may occur
in the course of the administration of this competition including any omission, interruption,
deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line or telephone,
mobile or satellite network failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or
alteration of entries.

35. If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned (including but not
limited to) technical failures, unauthorised intervention, fraud or any other causes beyond
the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affect the administration, security, fairness,
integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole
discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and, subject to
any written directions given by the various Lottery Departments, to cancel, terminate,
modify or suspend the competition.

36. All entries and other information provided in the course of this competition become the
property of the Promoter and the Sponsor. The collection, use and disclosure of personal
information in connection with this promotion are governed by the Promoter’s Privacy
Notice available from Channel 9 and these Conditions of Entry. The Promoter may use
information it collects in relation to you to provide you with information regarding further
offers, promotions or goods and services provided by the Promoter and/or the Promoter’s
partners and sponsors. The Promoter may also disclose information about you to its
service providers to enable the Promoter to provide you with services. Your personal
information may be disclosed to State and Territory lottery departments and winners’
names published as required under the relevant lottery legislation. You consent to the
Promoter’s use and disclosure of information about you as contemplated by this
condition. To remove your information from the Promoter’s records, please send an email
to competitions@nine.com.au with your name, mobile phone number and your request to
cancel the service. If you wish to update or modify your details, please email
competitions@nine.com.au with your name, mobile phone number and your request to
update or modify your details.

37. To the full extent permitted by law, The Promoter will not be liable to you in respect of any
claim for any loss or damage whatsoever (including, without limitation, any consequential,
indirect, special, punitive or incidental damages) or for any personal injury suffered by
you as a result of or in connection with the Promoter’s provision of the Service. Certain
legislation may imply warranties or conditions or impose obligations (collectively
Provisions) in relation to the Promoter’s provision of services to you which cannot be
excluded, restricted or modified except to a limited extent. If those Provisions apply, to
the extent that the Promoter is entitled to do so, the Promoter’s limits its liability in respect
of any claim under those Provisions to, at the Promoter’s option, the supply of the
relevant services again or the payment of the costs of having the services supplied again.
